Runny nose when you run? What do you do?

I never seem to pack enough tissues when I go for a run. My nose starts off fine then it's just streaming. It's a great look first thing in the morning meeting other runners and walkers. I was wondering how do other runners cope?

This morning I struck upon a possible solution. I think I read somewhere that cold air can irritate the lungs and cause a runner to cough but that wearing a scarf or buff might help. This morning was cold and frosty. To try to warm the air a little before it hit my lungs making me cough, I wore a buff. I must have looked a right sight. Anyway it worked. I didn't cough because the cold air did not irritate my chest. As an added bonus and the buff caught all the run off from my nose. Snot a problem. Any suggestions for when the weather warms up?

My nose runs all the time on a cold run and I use to take tissues but now I just don't bother. Isn't that what the back of your sleeve is for 😭

Love it! I thought I was the only one who did that! After all, the kit goes in the wash when we get home anyway.

I bought some cycling gloves that have a little terry bit on the thumb for just this purpose!

I'm pleased to hear that the club of runny nose runner has a lot of members, myself included lol! No solution for me apart from getting 1 or 2 packets of tissues and breathing out slowly in them when I need not to get out of breath... Completely unpractical and not stylish at all! I've noticed though that my nose is less runny after 15-20mns possibly because my body has settled into a steady rhythm.

You could try that spray stuff, Beconase I think it's called. I used to use two tissues per KM, now it's closer to one tissue per 2 KM...
