UGH! Waivering between frustration and feeling proud of myself!

I just finished week 4 of C25K and week 5 set to begin tomorrow. While I am feeling the workouts getting "easier" and am making progress on my pace (just under 10 min/mile now!), I made the mistake of weighing myself..... NOT 1 single pound lost... NOT 1?!?! I have lost 1.5" in my waist, but am so frustrated by the scale!!! I know muscle weighs more than fat, but really!!! I've improved my diet and feel better than I did before I started and really enjoying the program, but that weight was like a punch to the stomach!!!

Irritating isn't it, but the plan isn't really designed to help you lose weight - you have to do all the usual tedious stuff alongside the running to make the weight drop.

But the one thing I would say, is that quite a few of us here have noticed being more toned, alongside the inch loss that you've seen.

I am certainly less like the Pilsbury Dough Boy than I used to be, which is a good thing as I'm a girl!

Seriously though, it's just the beginning, as you increase your time and distances, this will all work towards you being a lot fitter and healthier. Well done for staying committed and for being able to enjoy the programme too.

I’ve lost nothing. Diet is the thing for weight loss, running is for health and weight maintenance. Horrible but true.

I’ve just graduated and not lost an ounce !! But my work trousers are much roomier especially on the thighs and bum area . It’s my fault too as I’m a greedy bugger 🐷 if I could sort my diet it probably help but hey ho x

Go for the feeling proud option. You have made it 4 weeks into the programme. You are noticing a change in your shape. You are getting fitter. Don't worry about the scales. Just make sure you aren't eating more after a run, which will sabotage your weight loss goal. Keep going, you are doing great. Just watch your speed. You don't want to run faster for week 5.

Hopefully you finished Week 4 yesterday if you are running tomorrow...? Rest days are essential.

This is not specifically a weight loss programme.. you may or may not lose weight.

Ditch the scales and just go with how you feel... the more you move.. you will eventually find you lose weight. You will get stronger and feel fitter and healthier:)

Yes, I'm resting. I strictly stick to the 1 day of rest between work outs 1-3 and the 2days of rest before beginning the next week! :). Thanks for the encouragement!!

I can def agree with Hidden .....my shape has def changed, but along with healthier eating I have lost weight too...my body is much more toned & I will be cracking walnuts open with my calves by Christmas at this rate...they are like STEEL!! You will see changes I’m sure but everyone’s different...keep at it though, the best change will be your whole outlook 😉

Have to agree I too have lost weight and still am plus my shape has and is changing, think this is a combination of healthy eating and the exercise

I haven’t lost weight either but definitely changed shape and am leaner.

Muscle doesn’t weigh more than fat it’s denser so when you lose fat but gain muscle you shrink - I used to be a SW consultant and if I’d a £1 for every time someone groaned coz they hadn’t lost anything or very little “but I’ve been doing all this exercise” and then go on to say “but my trousers feel looser” I’d be a rich girl! 😉

Think of say a 5lb Chicken versus 5lbs of feathers!! Scales are level but the pile of feathers will be massive!!!

😀

Go for the proud. I work in elderly care. All the food is fortified. And biscuits cakes and all sorts of nice snacks are always on offer. Needless to say i have not lost weight either! BUT. Feeling proud of my running

Cut out the biscuits and you will have a result.

Be proud! 👍 I'm 18 months into my 'get fit & skinnier ' journey, wk7 on c25k but I've only lost stone... however I've gone from a 16 to a 12 & can run for hours (ok 20/30mins) without dying! Now if only I could stop shovelling cake into my face 😯

“Only lost a stone”? There’s no “only” about losing a stone in weight! That’s brilliant!

I had all sorts of stats done when I started the programme and had them repeated at the end. I lost a whole kilo! However, what actually happened was I lost 3kg of fat and gained 2kg of muscle. What I see in the mirror looks less wobbly and I hope that I can continue this progress if I carry on running. I am told 27% fat is normal for a woman and I still have a way to go. But, you know what, if I like what I see and my husband isn't complaining then I Don't really care about the rest of your opinions.😉
