Week 4 run 1!

Well those wee gremlins started whispering in my ear this morning... “5 mins is a long time, you’ve only managed 3 so far it’s a big jump” blah blah. The first 3 minutes my brain was just thinking how long it felt and how the 5 mins was gonna be impossible. I banished all the thoughts as much as I could and at the end of the 5 minute run I said to myself I’ve done it once and I can do it again! The second lot of runs were much better as I knew I’d done it already and was just repeating. Wasn’t easy but wasn’t as awful as I had told myself it was gonna be! Onwards and upwards!

Well done dennymac82 you have done great so far, and there is no reason to suspect that you will not continue to do so. Just remember .... Slow and Steady ...

Keep up the good work, and don't forget your rest days ...

Slow and steady is the way to go! I thought that going into my runs today... slowed right down and I’m sure that’s the only reason I got through it!

Sometimes that's what's needed, and it doesn't have to be slowed down a great deal. Its dead easy to go blasting off into a run, but that early energy dissipates and then you really pay for it.

A much better way, as MJ will tell you, soon, start slowly, and increase the pace a bit, at the end, if you feel up to it.

Well done! I did W4 R1 this am and I was a bit worried about how I’d do as I’ve been away and decided just to wait till I got back and do my familiar route!

I’m enjoying this so much! Just wish I could persuade other family members but they just think I’m a bit crazy!! 😀

Hi Sarakc, my eldest daughter suggested I do c25k and even she thinks that I'm crazy - I'm not sure that she has got that the right way round!😀

... and the 3 minutes too, how could I have forgotten those, they were the centre of my universe just a few days ago. Did my run this morning - was a mixed bag. Surprisingly the 3 minute runs killed me but the 5 minute ones were ok. May have been something as straightforward as gradient / wind direction don’t know but unexpected! 😬

I did the last week 4 run this morning and keep thinking exactly the same thing, especially with that last 5 min run. I've done it once, I can do it again, and I did, and you will too!
