Week 4 Run 1

Good LORD that was hard! I got through it though! I decided that this week I wasn’t going to look ahead and just run with it... well, when Sarah said I had my last run and it was 5 mins I was gutted 😩😩. But anyway. I did it! I have realised that I start off too quickly because I’m all excited and energised and I like the feeling of running quickly. However, I know that will set me up for a fall as the runs get longer so I started off slow and I really think it got me through to the end. Goodness me on to run 2... 🏃🏽‍♀️

well done TeeBedders 🙌 another run done, so it was hard yes but you did it, maybe you didnt do it as stylish as you would have liked but its done. Like you have said - keep a slower steady pace especially as runs get longer👍🐢

if you need to race off do your quick stint for the last minute of your run. You doing fine😊

That’s a great tip thank you! Hopefully by run 3 this week I won’t be quite so knackered and manage a little quicker at the end ☺️

Yup, slow at the start and leave the sprint finish to the end of you can. It’s not easy, but so worth the effort.

Keep running! 👏👍

Well done on getting through it! I remember that run well....after the second three minutes i thought that was it. That was the first time i let a torrent of verbal abuse rain down on poor Jo and she was only doing her job! 🤣

But well done you 👏👏👏 YOU DID IT!!!

TeeBedders profile image
TeeBeddersGraduate in reply toLindsey-joy

Lol Lindsey I know EXACTLY what you mean. 🤣🙈 if someone had been passing and seen my face as Sarah announced the final run...

Thank you for your support as always ☺️

You’ve highlighted the issue... you like to go fast, so all you need to do is move that fast to the end instead of the beginning. When I run now I can tell a few minutes out if I can do that faster finish, and either just jog to the end or put in that burst at the end to have fun... it’s not possible to do that the other way round and so you sometimes end a run clinging on in there. Of course running tired is a good thing to be able to do... and learning to dig deep and get through is building the mental strength which can be as important as the physical side.

Anyway, it was a hard run... you stand victorious at the end of it... great job. Enjoy that run 2

Thank you so much! I’m going to conserve my energy until the end.. hopefully! Just wondering, do you still find runs hard now you’re experienced?

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduate in reply toTeeBedders

Sometimes yes... a couple of months back I ran 4 miles, I was supposed to be doing 5... and I’ve had a fair few runs where I’ve had to dig deep to finish. The next run is usually much smoother.

There is a fine line between drinking too much and not enough, I would hate to really need a wee mid run haha xx

Exactly! I’d be so annoyed if I had to cut my hard work short to pee 🙈 xx
