Hello, not new to the forum but I've literally re-run W1R1, I was aiming to jog the walking parts and run the jogging/running parts BUT, I set off too fast on the first run!
I didn't want to turn this into a practice run so I adapted my run, I jogged the first 90 second walk period and then increased speed again, I then flipped to a sprint/walk scenario, very HIIT like.
I was aiming for 8/10 for the running and 6/10 for the jogging, effort-wise but the first one was closer to 9 or 9.5/10, that was hard to recover from, it took me until after the next run if I'm honest.
Plus, with each run the treadmill went up 1%, the last minute at 8% was 'interesting' shall we say.
Intervals and hills are meant to increase your stamina and fitness, so lets do both together
Overall, I'm happy with the run, it was hard, the 90 seconds were just long enough to reduce my heart rate down to where I wanted it before I set off sprinting again.
To all the people just starting C25K, trust me, week 1 is the hardest BUT you can do it, just go slow and steady, don't try to break any speed records, etc, just aim to complete the runs.
Trust the program, believe in yourself and don't skip the rest days EVER!!
To the people graduating, well done, you've got to the gate, go through it and enjoy the rest of your journey.
To the people on here that have helped me get where I've gotten to, you all know who you are, my eternal thanks.
And to all those that will help me continue my journey, do you really understand what you're letting yourselves into?
UPDATE: I remember kicking my slipper last night, accidently of course, didn't notice before my run but noticed my toe after a shower this morning.
It's not normally that size or that colour so it looks like I have a trip to A&E today and then hopefully not too long off running.
I hate my slippers!!!!!!
