So, today I ran my second 28 minute continuous run. And it was heavenly. I think this was the first run I have had where it felt more, well, natural. My legs felt stronger than they have before. My pace was a tiny bit faster, but still steady and comfortable. The last 5 mins were, as always, a little challenging, and I slowed down a bit - no way was I going to risk having to stop!
The plan today was again an element of mix-it-up and distraction. So I ran anti-clockwise on my circular route, and did a Zombies, Run mission, which was great fun! A wee bit nerve wracking (as I run early, in the dark), but got the old adrenaline going! I love stories, and I love running, so to combine the two was brilliant!
Hope you all have lovely days. The sun is shining in London Town, and I have a spring in my step!

Oh Sadie, that sounds like a wonderful run π I look forward to the day when my legs don't wish they belonged to somebody else π I might give it another couple of weeks and try a Zombie run myself (but not in the dark) π±
I'm still not entirely convinced they were my legs; I mean, I barely recognised them. π Do Zombies, Run! It's fun - even funner in the dark! Not that scary, good story.
Ha ha! W6R1 is now like a much forgotten ex-boyfriend. It was no fun at the time, but the painful memory has been overwritten by my new love, W8. How I love thee week 8, let's get married!
Yay well done!! Sounds like a great run. I'm one behind you and have seen the zombies mentioned a couple of times but don't know what they are all about. I still find the first 5 minutes the worst, especially when Laura says 'you should be at a nice comfortable pace now' and I feel half dead! The end I find I feel ok, maybe not a good thing as I've been getting a bit over excited recently and want to keep going which I think is not good at this point. Maybe the zombies will sort me out!
Thanks, siobhp! You might be finding the first 5 mins a struggle cos the oxygen hasn't quite made it to the ole leg muscles at that point? My best bit of the run is always around 10 mins in, curiously. The last 5 mins are always a battle of wills for me - legs vs mind. Luckily my mind wins and convinces legs to keep going. π But so many factors at play here. If I've slept well, drank loads of water the previous day, and laid off the old vino, my runs are always much easier. Funny ole thing, this running lark. Happy I found it though. πββοΈπ
I'm so glad you've said this about week 8, I struggled with week7 but went out for the 1st run of week 8 last night and absolutely loved it. I didnt notice the extra 3 minutes at all. Looking forward to graduation next week ππ
Yay - well done you. I knew you'd do it, you always do. You're so nearly there!
How is it with the zombies, are they good company?
I honestly can't wait to see your graduation post in a week or so, or whenever it is. You are doing so brilliantly, and you've inspired me all the way. If it wasn't for you, I might have given up over the past few days.
Aw, thank you so much Neil. π You know, I am totally surprised at myself. Totally. Feels weird to think I have just 4 runs left of the programme. I really do hope to graduate.
The Zombie missions are fun! The story and voice acting is very engaging, I must say, and so far it has not been terribly scary...so far. You can have your music playlist running at the same time, and it just cuts in when there is a new event in the story. I love it.
Thank you for all YOUR support; it means a lot. And if my "journey" has inspired you, then I am double happy.
