What the hell just happened?
I rolled out of bed at 6:30 am for my scheduled run, W8R2. I'd sorted out running gear, socks, trainers, bag... I grabbed everything and set off. A lovely, slightly chilly morning as I adjusted the Bluetooth headphones with the lovely Sarah Millican being her usual encouraging self and my audiobook in the background.
Then, disaster! The plaintive Asian lady who lives in my headphones "Please, charging!"
Bugger! No headphones, no audiobook. I turned up the volume on Sarah in my belt bag and carried on. I *thought* it would be awful but it was oddly liberating. By the time I'd got to the promenade the sun was peeking through the clouds and turning the sea a lovely pinky grey. I felt great. I had worked out a while ago that if I ran as far as the paddling pool & back, that would be a 5k run plus walking (NB forgot to set Garmin at start so the display is short a couple of hundred metres), so I thought why not? Every so often I would ask myself, if I felt like this, would I set off on a run? and the answer was always "yes" so I kept going.
I saw many other runners (didn't overtake any lol) and was very much encouraged by their comeradely "Good Morning" / "Bore Da" (delete as appropriate.) One guy passed me a couple of times and was very encouraging "Go on! You can do it!" - I saw him again near the end of my promenade run and excitedly told him "This will be my first 5k" and he cheered!
So there we are. Best get to work I suppose.
Love to all xxx
