Week 7 Run 1 - Running in the rain !!

My run was planned for today but woke up to torrential rain and wind outside....waited 2 hours after thinking what do I wear, do I go as I’ve never run in the rain before (far to many excuses) Only added some gloves to my normal outfit and off I went. Am I weird but love...love...love running in the rain (didn’t like the wind) as it felt I was pushing to get through it and not getting anywhere 😂 A male “gazelle” type runner ran past me but stuck his thumb up to say “well done” and that spurred me on even more. Today has been renamed as “SOAKED (BUT SMILING) SUNDAY” ! Have a lovely Sunday everyone. 🏃‍♀️

This is such an amazing post, love it!! I do all my runs on my treadmill (I’m a ‘Weather Intolerant” 😉) so this is very inspirational! Well done RRR13! 👏🏼 🏃‍♀️

Thanks so much, I posted because I thought it would help others that we can do it whatever the weather. So many posts on here have helped me through the running journey 🏃‍♀️

I've just decided not to go out in the rain and have had my breakfast. Reading this I wish I had gone. Didn't you get cold?

I wasn’t cold at all as I heat up like a radiator anyway ! Was slightly chilly on my 5 min warm up walk but just went a bit faster plus I had my gloves on which helped. I was still red faced when I got in and looked like I had gone for swim instead 😂 Good luck for your next run whatever the weather.

Hmm wish I'd been braver now. I'll think of you next time I'm considering a rainy run. It might be the inspiration I need, so thank you. Rain forecast for days at this point...

You can do it...maybe wear a lightweight gilet or jacket if you feel the cold. Good luck for your next run and you never know you may enjoy it 💦

Love this post, well done! I’ve only ever run in a light shower before n that was quite pleasant. I try n time my runs to avoid the heavier rain cos a) I don’t have any rain gear yet and b) I worry that my specs will get so wet I won’t be able to see where I’m going 🤓💦😵

Thanks so much Jill, I did check the posts before the run to see what people wear. Few mentioned baseball cap to protect eyes from rain (didn’t have one of those) so wiped my eyes with my gloves half way though as the tissue I had was no help at all and flew out of my hands 😂 (hopefully I don’t get done for littering)

Oops! At least tissues are biodegradable luckily. I have a baseball cap so I might give that a try. Hoping to pick up a waterproof jacket this week, seems sensible now we’re back to rainy weather. Enjoy the rest of Week 7!

Well done!

I've looked at the hourly forecast and see there's a window for between 12 and 2 today, I'm going to attempt wk7r3 then.

Well done

I’m with you on this

I had avoided running for most of this week but today was the day

The rain was surprisingly ok!

On to the home straight - next week is week 9!

Thank you and well done to you too...Good luck for Week 9 and Graduation day 🎉

I know exactly how you feel!

I've just finished week 3 ( I'm returning to running after approx 6 month break - winters are too hard ) and I was listening to the wind howling outside the house and trying to convince myself that it's madness to go out.

Then I thought about my friends wedding in 8 weeks and went for it. Yes, freezing on the warm up and the cool down walk but a bit of drizzle / rain - no problem!

Well done on the run...feel so much better once it’s done (not necessarily on the run) 😂 nice to get a hot shower and cup of tea afterwards.

If you're weird, then I'm weird too. Running in the rain is one of my absolute favourite things to do; I always find myself grinning on a rainy run.

Well done for getting out there ☺

Thank you ! We can be a couple of weirdos together 😂

Great read! I’ve ran in the rain once. It was very refreshing to say the least! I think it’s good to endure all weathers. I could do with gloves for the early morning runs. It usually starts off quite cold

Thank you Dave, yes it was refreshing felt like having multiple buckets of water thrown over you whilst standing in front of a wind machine 😂(can’t get much worse now)...Good luck with your next run 🏃‍♂️
