Phew. After the grumpy mess that was W6R1, I was unsure as to how the next run would go. But, determined to wipe my memory of that "misery stagger", I sprang out of bed at 6am (I am an annoying morning person) to tackle run 2 of this week.
It was still a little dark as I started my warm up, and chilly to boot. First 10 min run went well, I felt good and it felt pretty effortless. Phew-wee. Second 10 minutes was a little tougher, but Lady Gaga came to my rescue with "Born this Way" - never listened to this on a run before, but it has a great tempo for my pace. Thanks Gaga:
"I'm on the right track baby, I was born this way."
End result? I ran, I finished the run, I showered, I glowed. 90% mojo back, scr*w you week 6!
Well. I have discovered, to my surprise, that I no longer like the intervals. Week 1? I was praying for the intervals. Week 6? I scowled at the intervals for interfering with my running. Christ, what has become of me?!
Don't be disheartened by my experience, dear Neil. Remember, I was unwell when I did my W6R1, and that really added to the ugh experience. Today was better, I admits that β but I am still super excited about W6R3 as I get to see whether I can run for 25 minutes! I am a little scared, a tiny bit doubtful, but a huge amount hopeful.
Thank you for all your support and encouragement, Neil. Hope you are still glowing.
I've never liked the intervals. I found those 8 runs in week one really annoying. Never mind the fact that I could barely run for a minute, the intervals just got on my nerves. Today for me was better because I could just pace myself and run. And get lost apparently lol
I kind-of feel the same about the W6 intervals coming up, like "why? haven't I just got past this stage?". And I may just catch a cold to see if my experience matches yours. You know how badly man-flu affects us blokes!!
And I just know you can do 25 minutes. I even think I may be able to manage 25 minutes. Hang in there Sadie, you'll be a graduate before you know it. x
I can only think that the devil devised this programme and put week 6 in there as a wee joke. But seriously, it must be there for a reason β I just wish I knew WHY??! Anyone? Anyone know why we have to do flipping intervals again, for just 2 runs?!
Do try Born this Way β it has a great tempo. I am odd. When I run, I listen to music that I would never dream of listening to normally! (Though I am growing to LOVE Gaga β her new album, Joanne, is stunning.
Thanks FPF! I do have some warmer running clothes, but still finding them a bit too hot to run in! Layers, layers, that's the key, eh?
Well done you always good to get a good run done to make up for the rubbish one. Nicely done, I am still a teenager when it comes to getting up, so think your effortless morning getting up is amazing...
I have always been a lark and envy the owls. You may be like a teenager, but I am like a child β tucked up super early and up with a bounce. I am unbeatable in the mornings, but weeping with despair by 9pm.
Anyway, thank you! For your support and kind words. It WAS good erasing the memory of W6R1!
What is it with Week6 Run1? I thought it would be easy after running for 20mins on the previous run but I found it really hard and felt achy for the rest of the day. I've got W6R2 tomorrow and hope it will goes as well as yours.
I know right, it doesn't make any sense?' I did have a cold, so can only assume that didn't help.
For the most part attitude helps - approach your next run as a clean slate, Lorraine, I am sure you will be fine! I am running my W6R3 tomorrow. 25 mins - exciting! Going to go sooooo slow that the local snail running club will probably overtake me. πππ
