First run today

So I have done day one today , never run before and it nearly killed me ๐Ÿ˜‚wanted to stop after 20 minutes but had two runs left so pushed myself. I went to the local park which was flat and there were other joggers giving me sympathetic nods, and telling me it gets easier. I am so unfit

Well if you were fit, you wouldn't need the program, would you? We've all been where you are, trust me. And now, only 8 weeks after the horribleness that is Week 1 Run 1, I can run for 28 minutes. If you keep it up, you will be able to as well. Your body is amazing, and the program designers (in my opinion) are geniuses!

Well done!

The first is the hardest but now you have started just keep following the programme and take it at your own pace. You will amaze yourself:)

You've done the hardest part, the program is designed to move you along and prepare you for the next run. As ejvcruns says, if you were fit you wouldn't need the program.

We are all on here as we want to run, for whatever reason, you will soon improve both your fitness and stamina without you initially noticing it, it's really amazing how your body actually changes and the speed at which it does.

I, like everyone else that is either on here now or graduated and moved on, remember W1R1, I gasped my way through every run, I also remember W2R1 when I was worried I'd never be able to do the runs in there, I was very surprised when I did.

Every time you push yourself to complete a run you increase your stamina, you can do this, just go slow and steady and you'll be fine, you'll be at week 9 before you know and you will surprise yourself along the way.

You've broken the back of it by getting out there and doing it. That is the biggest step and hurdle already overcome.

For that -๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

Go with the program-it works. We've all gone through that first lung busting week. By the end of week 2 those lungs will be absolutely fine. Slow, steady and post as often as you can on here. You will be amazed in yourself

You may be unfit, but that's today, every run you do you improve your fitness.

Best exercise you did today was to kick that damned couch. It does get easier but harder at the same time, because the plan stretches you. But I reckon today's run is the hardest you'll do.... well done for joining the best running club in the world
