Tonight I am about to run the week 5 run 2. I think all is getting well, the thing is I run through the hills in the field here in Germany. Its quite difficult when it goes up, especially at the end of the run. Do you have tips for running/climbing a big hill?
Thanks

Go slow? My run is flat, thank goodness, but I don't see what else you can do. Maybe some hilly runners will be along to help.
I too found a flat place to run for the programme and regret it. Just go slow and you will become accustomed to the hills and your strength and stamina will improve as a result. So you will reach graduation well able to face whatever terrain you meet next, and not having to face hills post-graduation, as I have
Well done you ... I think many of us have hills... and we learn to respect and love them They are good for us ???
What I have read and it worked for me when I was on holiday on some really steep slopes was to keep my steps going at the same pace as on the flat but take much smaller steps. So your feet are still moving at the same rate but you are moving forwards much slower.
I treat running up hills a little like I treat cycling up them. I have to get ready to change down a gear before I actually start the climb, and then I do smaller steps but try to keep the rhythm the same. This morning when I was heading up a hill I must have looked like I was doing baby steps, and although it was slower I got up the hill. It's also worth thinking about your breathing, so breathing right down into your belly . Glad you managed your run tonight.
