WK 7 : RUN 2 - HOW DID I DO...? πŸ€”

Hello my lovely running friends....

Well, I succeeded and did the 25 minutes run today. The lower half of my legs began to ache within the first 8 minutes....why though I don't know. But I carried on and managed to finish it πŸ€—

I continued for an extra minute and a half and then proceeded with the walk home and it was pretty warm around midday today.

I have to say that I dread the start, I dread to think that I have 25 minutes to run 'NO STOPPING', but once I'm into it, it doesn't feel so bad.

Undoubtedly, I'm running at a slow pace, but I am more concerned with building up my stamina and that's what I'm going to concentrate on. Will be nice to quicken my pace in time and work a little harder 😊 If I remember correctly, my Strava and Fitbit show a pace of between approximately 15-18'47". I don't understand what this is though, but either way, I'm not worried about it. I just want to be stronger.

I know MarkyD loves my tees/tops haha πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ so I've sported one of my new ones today, lol. I counted earlier and to my surprise (yes, I am surprised, lol), I have about 13 altogether πŸ˜²πŸ˜‚πŸ˜²

I noticed my little dog is wandering in the gardens behind me in the photo, haha.

Happy running all and thanks for the encouragement this forum provides 😊

Well done QB! You are not far from completion now! I found once the 25 min mark was passed, that 30min later on was much easier to manage, especially in your mind. πŸ‘πŸΌ

You did, as ever, amazingly...!

Well done you... stamina and strength are building.. time for speed and distance can follow as you wish :)

You are now, beginning to find your happy pace, as the runs get longer...letting those newly-found running legs, just carry you forward.

Great photo and post...Brilliant!

Thank you Old floss, you're always encouraging and boosting to the soul 😘

Yes, I wonder if the leg machines at the gym will help with strength for running? I'm not into the cross trainer or vario, (though I've been told they are good for running), but after 20 seconds, my hips and legs/knees start aching abd I just can't do it. But that was when I hadn't started the podcast, so maybe I will feel better if I try it again..??? X

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduateβ€’ in reply toquirkybee

Well I used my elliptical cross trainer... no incline..after I broke my ribs... and when I went out again..blimey my core strength and leg-strength had dramatically improved :)

Thank you Old floss. I'm due back at the gym soon to revise my programme, so I'll mention it then.

Love the tops, I'm also a bit of a 'topaholic' but can't compete with you yet!

... and well done with your running, 25mins can feel a long time can't it!

Happy running (and top buying)!

quirkybeeGraduateβ€’ in reply toWizziewood

Haha, thanks Wizziewood,

Hmmm.....yes, I think I have enough now, lol πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Yeh, 35 minutes seems like forever, but we can do it πŸ‘

Amazing!! Well done! Week 7😲😲WOW! You are doing sooooooo well😊 Like you said, it's not about pace at the moment, just stamina, so keep going strong and you will be running those 5k's in no time at all!!!

Thanks Lisa, yes, steady, but sure is the best way for us I think.

Hope you are recovering. See you before too long 😊 x

Brilliantly done as ever, and the running tops girl you have a shopaholic problem, 13 for a previous non runner....

Haha thanks Jan. I only had 3 previously that I've been wearing as I bought them for cycling initially. But I get so hot, that I needed the vest type. So I bought a few recently.

My friend said yesterday I have more tops than she has normal tops haha πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (that's not true though, as she has lots of tops, lol).

I'm so excited about this running see, I feel so reassured I have the tops ready for action πŸ˜‚

Thank you Jan x

Aww, thanks Helene πŸ€—

He's my lil baby, as my lil boy has grown up (22 years old), haha. Ozzy my dog is 15 years old, failing sight and virtually deaf, various other things going on with him too, but he's doing okay love him x

HeleneCorsa profile image
HeleneCorsaGraduateβ€’ in reply toquirkybee

Oh bless him. From what I can make out from the photo Ozzy looks in great shape for a 15 year-old dog though, despite the inevitable health issues.

Well @mummycav109 described you as a machine & you are certainly cranking out these runs. Seems like there is no stopping you: keep going.

Trainers, new top, face - all beautifully colour-coordinated so well done. Have to be honest and say that I do like this new top.

I was wondering what brand are your ear-pods? Look like mpow magneto but I am not 100% sure.

quirkybee profile image
quirkybeeGraduate

Ah, well thank you Marky....... I'm truly honoured! πŸ€—

Next new top will be on tomorrow's run, so watch this space, haha.

As for my in ear earphones. I have a problem with wearing in ear earphones, so lately I've used my headphones. But, recently, after long research and reviewing, whilst limiting myself to a budget for new ear/headphones, I invested in a wireless and Bluetooth set of each.

My headphones are Bluedio Hurricane Turbine and my in ear earphones (as shown in photo, lol), are Taotronics stereo Bluetooth and wireless from Amazon.

I have to say they are both pretty good for a budget price. There are better ones again in their range, which I may invest in at a later date. But for mainly running and the gym, these work grand. Some have quoted on the reviews that they're better than the Beats by Dr. Dre, but I've never owned that make, so I can't compare.

So much better without the wires though and I usually wear an arm cuff to hold my phone, but that's fallen apart, so I've had to tie it in a knot on the last 2 runs, (but thats another story) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Wearing a pouch around my waist for the time being, though I invested in a very lightweight running backpack a few weeks ago, for when I eventually achieve much longer runs. To be continued....... πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

quirkybee profile image
quirkybeeGraduate

Mummycav haha, that's the way. I'd put a link on, but don't think it allows me by mobile format. I know all of the range, Taotronics 2, 3 and 4 haha. Mine are Shooting Brake. I would have got the next ones up, but unsure about the heavy bass part of it. Plus, one allowed you to use a memory card, but I couldn't be faffing about with that and would need my phone anyway x 😊

Ah bless you truly Nozza. You'll be with me, don't you worry.

I'm going at an incredibly slow pace, about 15'47", how slow is that? Haha x
