I followed advice, drove out and ran a new route into a country park. I've walked it often enough in the past but was unsure where 25 minutes running would get me. Well, it got me round one side of a lake and over the bridge half way down another.
A heron, green woodpecker, and unidentified warbler made pleasant running buddies.
Being a new running area my pace was a bit skew-whiff - very slightly faster for the first km, so I focussed and tried to slow ...and ran 5 seconds faster for the second; then I REALLY focussed on keeping it steady ... and ran 30 seconds faster still.
My running style hasn't changed since I was a young un, and pace doesn't matter to me at all. I am steady and breathing comfortably and spoke easily to folk along the route. I wasn't out of breath at any stage.
I did the 25 minute run with 2 x 5 minute walks. Just over 5km in all.
It won't always be possible, but I definitely need change up my locations and run in new places whenever I can.
Happy running, folks!
