W5 r3 - is done!

Yeaaaaaaaaah! I sit a hot sweaty mess - but have just completed the final run of week 5. Now I know it's not w9 r3 - but so pleased that I was able to do this first time. and I've now been doing this for 5 weeks - any other programme i'd have given up a few weeks ago probably - siting time, work and family commitments - but this programme has kept me going - and it certainly isn't the music. Pleased I run the same route each day - the familiarity helps - I know I've run to here - so I can keep on running. Legs felt really heavy again at the start - is there a way to combat that????? other than running through it - do others have that same feeling, or is it just me taking a while to get my 17 stone moving! Anyway - onwards and upwards - W6 R1 here I come.

Don't worry, honestly if you've done the programme so far - I'm sure you'll do really well.

Don't worry - just keep on going and you'll be fine, I was not looking forward to it this morning - was finding things to do to delay starting - in the end you've just got to get out there and do it (sorry Nike). I found the first week hard - having not run for over 20+ years, but each milestone has been hit based on the progression in the programme - so I do have faith. Also reading some of the stories around this run from Graduates - really good to see how many of them were also dreading this run - but got through it and went on from there. I'm sure you'll be one of those - and nice to know some people going through this at the same time as me!

I have this run to do on Monday as tomorrow is my rest day (I ran wk5 run 2 this morning), I will hold off till the coolest part of the day/night or might go out at 0500 when I get up. I was really heartened to read your account.

Well done - w5r3 is a massive milestone and it's an amazing feeling when you do it. Don't worry about the heavy legs - the first km is always the hardest. Someone told me about the 'toxic 10' (I think it's on a pinned post somewhere) - i.e. you always feel worst in the first 10 mins. I now go out expecting to have to battle through that bit to get to the good bit. Somehow just knowing that it'll be tough makes it easier. Good luck with week 6!

Brilliant this is one of the milestone runs. I hope your grin lasts a very long time, for a brilliant achievement

Thanks - followed it up with wrestling with an above ground pool for the kids to swim in this afternoon. I thought it had the upper hand at one point but finally wrestled it in to some semblance of a swimming pool.

Well done you !!! I've just completed this one to amazing isn't it !!! My legs feel the same to I just hope that eases with time x

Well done! I completed this run this morning and I'm still feeling ecstatic. No other exercise program has ever made me feel this way, I feel like I'm pushing myself to the edge of my limits but.... I 'm doing it! I mostly lurk on this forum but reading the comments has been a massive help, thanks for sharing ☺️

Keep it up Schmooo75 - I'm tackling w8 r1 tomorrow am, and if the rest of the forum was not proof enough - I am that following the programme certainly works. Have a great run W6 r1 when you tackle it!
