When you run you create micro tears in your muscles which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while you are running. That is why the instructions clearly state that you should take at least one rest day between runs.
You can always run alternate days, in which case you can complete the plan in just over eight weeks but running consecutive days, as a new runner is definitely not recommended and is increasing your injury risk considerably.
I'm on W4R3 next, I did run 2 yesterday & my legs are aching today, plus it's my birthday and I've walked round Whitby & up to the Abbey so my legs haven't really had a rest day today but I usually run Mon, Wed & Fri...there's a park run opp my house on a sat which my friends are starting to nag me about...might just do it this weekend seeing as I'm not running tomora
