I was buoyed up with confidence after completing week 3 Run 3 so decided to tackle week 4 Run 1.
When I started my first 5 mins there were a couple of dog walkers about 0.2 miles away and by the time I completed I had closed the gap but they hadn't even looked around so didn't even know I was there so that will give you an idea on my pace but I knew I had another 5 mins on the way back.
I would like to have quickened my pace a little to improve my balance but fear I might not have managed the second 5 mins if I had.
Getting the pace right for each run is not easy and definitely something I need to work on. Too much pace and I can't complete the run but too little pace makes me feel less fluid and more like I am taking a quick walk.

Sometimes I can be running well for 3 mins then just run out of steam. For week 4 Run 1 I was much slower and think I needed to be for 5 mins. Thank you and yes doing a lot better than expected so I definitely take comfort in that.
I found with each increase in time I started off slower and slower just so i could get to the end of the time and by the end of the programme my slow was quite a bit faster than the first few flat out runs
I think I hit my limit with week 4 Run 1. I completed but I was slow and struggled to get into a rhythm as I could feel myself winding down. I don't think I will be running the 2*5 minutes flat out any time soon. I will try run 2 Friday. I was mildly chastised for running on consecutive days but I felt like I could. With week 4 and beyond I am definitely going to need that day of rest inbetween and possibly more 😁
I have graduated and still feel a fraud to say ‘I run’ - fairly quick walk is about all I feel I’m achieving but, I could barely manage 60 seconds so, that 30 minutes is an achievement! I guess what I’m trying to say is, we’re out there and in time the ease that others seem to show in their stride and pace will surely come . You sound like you’re doing great so, keep going 😊
I graduated a few years ago but pre op and post op feel like very different people. I am in the not so quick walk camp 😁. Fairly quick is my next goal. I was struggling to walk initially. I had to to start from scratch step 1 try to lift heel when walking because when I tried initially I would get a huge pain through my leg so walking for 60 seconds was a challenge, as ridiculous as that sounds. Luckily I have moved on from there but 30 mins still feels far away but that's fine and in no hurry. I hope you are right but where my cuts are just feels heavier so I shall just have to see what happens. I am doing a lot better than I expected. Thanks
I can identify with what your are saying about ‘where cuts are feeling heavier’. I have eight inch scar at back of one calf and 6 inch on top of foot after op and definitely feels different running on that side than the other. Eased significantly over time and after I had run reviewed and bought trainers. I wish you all the best and am sure you’ll get there. Good luck
Those are some serious cuts but yes I hear that. My right hand side feels heavier. I did learn this trick when struggling to push thumb and forefinger on my clavicle bones and push to help with more of an upright position. I know my deficiencies so now about trying to deal with them. I will look forward to this easing though to be fair initially I could barely move my arm without pain so definitely improved though still can't carry anything heavy like shopping and I have been reviewed by a physio who is also in agreement despite booklet saying should be able to carry as normal after 13 weeks.
