Week 5 not as scary as it looks :-)

I have to admit - I was terrified of week 5. It just looked so daunting. So scary. So much jogging. But this morning I went out with some trepidation and conquered week 5 run 2. OK I know that in some circles this is no big deal, but for me it's akin to scaling Everest. Eight minutes continuous jogging. TWICE. I genuinely would not have believed I could do it. Just a few weeks ago it was unimaginable. And then there I was this morning, on the homeward section, feeling a bit puffed, when I checked my watch and thought "Only another two minutes," and that was when I realised that I am indeed, on my way to calling myself a runner. Just a few months ago a 60 second jog left me panting on the pavement, wondering how I would make it back home, and here I am thinking that two minutes is "only" two minutes.

On Thursday I shall have a go at the epic twenty minutes required of run 3 but I must admit I am feeling positive and ready to give a go. The only downside today was being overtaken by two lads who strode past me, walking, while I was jogging. Oh dear. Never mind. They were tall and young and I am neither.

Well done you, a very inspriring post. You will have that 20 minute run done and dusted with no bother. As for the two lads who strode past you... Being young and tall does not make you a runner, and sheer bloody-mindedness is often a more important factor that C25K drums into us all. Challenge them to a 10k in year's time and watch them flake out after ten minutes :)
