Yes, I made it out for what used to be my regular Thursday evening run - but which hasn't happened in something over a month! I'd downloaded Zombies Run a week or two ago, and have been meaning to give it a try but keep on forgetting, so tonight was the night!
I wasn't entirely sure about the wisdom of starting this in the dark but figured I might as well. And the first music I found to play in the background was some *very* cheesy, bright, Swedish pop music from the 1980s, so not entirely in keeping with the tone Anyway, Lotra Engberg chirping happily away, I set the Zombies app for a 20 min run and off we went.
I actually enjoyed it more than I expected - zombie apocalypse and dystopian futures not being quite my thing - I found I could easily picture the scene, and liked the frequency with which I apparently picked things up. So twenty mins passed quite easily actually - I'll try a longer one next time and see how that goes...

It's a free app (yay!) which narrates bits of a story every so often while you run. The zombie apocalypse has happened, and the survivors are in Abel township. They see a figure running (you!, following a helicopter crash) and ask you to see if you can collect something from the hospital on your way to the township. As you run, you pick up things like food, clothing, first aid kits etc (without having to do anything; the voice in your ear just tells you you've got stuff).
You can set it to having 'zombie chases' where you have to put on a burst of speed to escape them - i.e. Interval training, although I'd got that turned off as I wanted a plain run.
You can have your own music playing, which it just dims when the app needs to tell you the next bit of story etc.
Oh yes, I use this occasionally on a dark night! It tracks your run too doesn't it? Not something I use very often but definately a good way of adding a little fun to your run! You were definately right to use it in the dark!😮🙂
I'd somehow not noticed that it could track my run. And looking further into it, it looks as though you can actually set a real world place you want to run to so it'll set a route for you. Might be worth looking at for the future...
