I have recently been doing some 30ish minute runs using the Zombies Run! free app. Having completed Ju ju's up to 10k plan twice, it is really nice to just go out for fun runs with no distance to acheive for a change.
The Zombie run story has missions that take about 30 mins and you play your own music and it goes quiet while you are chatted to. It must be like doing the c25k app (I did the podcasts with Laura).
Something different and I feel a bit like Anneka Rice from Treasure Hunt running along with my wireless headphones, picking up virtual supplies...
Today's run was in the melting snow, the pavements were mainly clear, but snow lay in the fields and on the verges. I started my run with my buff pulled up over my mouth and nose, but soon pulled it down and was breathing nicely quite deeply and evenly.
Dodging the icy patches, picking up a baseball bat, some shorts, a mobile phone I made my way up the hill...
Soon after graduating, I would puff my way up this hill, but now it no longer bothers me, and I'm finding my pace is much quicker than last year before the 10k training.
For me, slow longer runs have made me stronger and I now find I am much quicker without trying to be.
Into the agrecultural college, I ran past the Llamas and emus in their snow covered field and a small circuit around the car park before heading down the hill. I stopped to take some pictures today, and saw these poor daffodils struggling to keep their heads above the snow..
To make my run a bit longer I loop up the road leading to the posh Golf course...nobody will he playing today!...and back again to the gates where I finish in style. My mission was accomplished I warned lots of people of some oncoming zombies and managed to stay out of trouble. I'm runner 5 and proving very useful to Abel Township...
Quite happy doing these runs until the end of the month, then I will do Ju ju's plan again building up to do my 10k virtual Star Wars run on May 4th (be with you๐)...
Happy running everyone. Stay safe๐xxx
