Hi All

Just signed up, I am 58 and cant remember the last time I ran anywhere. With the help of slimming world I have lost 8 stones in the last 18 months and now want to get fitter. My goal is to be able to take part in park runs, first day tomorrow.

Well done for making that decision, and for finding the most supportive community you could ever hope for to cheer and encourage you on your way! Do post tomorrow to let us know how it went :)

You are going to love doing this - just over 2 months ago I thought I would never run for 30 minutes straight, which is what I did today, R1W9. And I'm 58 too! Hope you have all the kit sorted, shoes etc. Don't try to overdo it.

Excellent to hear you've signed up. First run is the most important one so good luck and let us know how you get on? 🏃🏽‍♀️

Lovely, thanks for joining. The decision to start and getting out the door for the first run is the toughest part. We'll be here for you for the rest of the journey. Running a Parkrun is a great goal and I look forward to your write-up when you accomplish it.

Losing 8 stones is an amazing achievement, you clearly have determination, so you'll crack C25K too. Have you got your kit as Sarahcyn says? Podcasts etc? Let us know how it goes xx

Welcome aboard. I reckon the hardest part is behind you. That weight loss took grit and determination, and patience, and the ability to see the long term view. Those qualities will see you romp through the C25k plan! Do hang out here and be inspired and encouraged by your new friends, the C25kers.

Well done so far. I'm sure you will enjoy the programme. I was 66 when I started and had never run in my life and I graduated! If I could do it you can. Good luck.

Thanks it was a bit of a journey. But no longer to fat to run or to old to try. My legs are feeling a bit wobbly and I was puffing and blowing, but all good first step taken.
