Mine started because I needed a new challenge. I'm 58 in August and have not run for at least 40 years. However, I am a frequent cyclist and cycled Land's End to John O'Groats last September in 9 days. I really missed the buzz of the challenge with even getting so so tired with achy muscles, then getting up to do it all again! I was watching the London marathon and found it so inspirational because of the people that finished from all levels of ability. Now I have entered the ballot but if not successful I will run a marathon next year.
I'm on week 2 day 2 at the moment and loving it and getting a real buzz from running I never thought I would. My legs are aching in different places I didn't know I had but I know I will keep going. I didn't see the point in it as with cycling you can rest going downhill!!
Keep going all and never forget why you started.

You can rest a bit going downhill when running too! Let gravity do the work! Good luck on your journey. Maybe we’ll bump into each other (not literally!) in London next April.🏃♀️🏃♀️😊
As a relatively fit cyclist please don't make the mistake of not maintaining the rest day between workouts. The impact of running, unlike non impact exercise, creates microtears in your muscles which repair and strengthen on your rest days.
