Running newbie!

Hi everyone. I’ve just completed my first week and feeling great. I know it’s early days but I’m already looking forward to week 2. I will be 50 this year 😩 so decided to set myself a little challenge to do a park run. Something I never thought I would even say!! The first two runs a friend came with me but today I did it on my own so chuffed with myself. I have scared myself a little reading what’s to come in the later weeks but will try just to focus on the current week. The best bit so far is starting the day with loads of energy after a 6.30am run before work. I was buzzing all day after day 1! 😀

Wel HelsN68 that's just great to hear your enthusiasm. I found it best not too look too far ahead and just concentrate on the week in hand, as your body will be ready for those later challenges if you follow the programme, but is not ready at the moment, so they seem unattainable. Half of the battle is believing that you can do this - which you can.

Enjoy week 2 and happy running. :-)

Sounds like you’re loving it! Woohoo!

Keep posting on and reading the forum so we can keep supporting you. You’re doing SO well!

Personally, I did read through the whole program on day 1 as I’m so nosey I couldn’t bear not know-what was coming!🤣🤣 But, for most people, not looking too far ahead works well. Happy running 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Welcome aboard! You'll be fine. I know it's tempting to look ahead but don't build it up in your head. Just focus on one run at a time and one foot in front of the other... you can't go wrong.

The programme is fantastic and it teaches you more than just how to run. 👍😁
