W3R1 Completed :-)

Well it was tough going, but I managed to complete W3R1 this morning. Three minutes is a surprisingly long time. I'm doing the C25K on a treadmill and have to train myself to stop clock-watching, as when I ignore the fact I have 1 minute or whatever left it does seem easier.

Thanks again to everyone for the wonderful support and inspiration on here. It really does make a difference.

It does seem a long time on a hamster wheel ☺

It's balmy weather at the mo. you could venture outdoors, where the time passes so much quicker.

I can't believe how, quick the time passes on trails and footpaths ☺

I haven't been brave enough to venture outside into the big wide world yet. Mainly because it would mean going out in the dark which I don't especially fancy. I can just see me tripping over something and falling flat on my face. My husband always reckons I can fall over the pattern in a carpet. Lol

Maybe I'll give it a try at the weekend and see how it feels. I'd also heard that a treadmill has a bit more 'give' so can be kinder on the knees.

Stick some black tape over the clock, and over the speed. Run the speed that is comfortable, and for as long as laura tells you.

Good plan.

I am a proper clumsy oaf so I know what you mean. I don't mind running outside in the dark as you just get used to it. It does help make you run slower though as you have to watch where you are going. It forces you to go steady, which is a good thing

A running lamp makes running in the dark more do-able, and fun. Ninja runners all!

Sarah1703, WELL DONE. I was supposed to have done W3R1 today as well but work made me slip W2R3 by a day, so that means I head off to try my W3R1 tomorrow also on the hamster wheel. 3 minutes sounds like a lifetime to me, but I'm going to give it a go. How I wish that like you I could say that I've done it .... maybe I can tomorrow evening! WELL DONE YOU!!

Thank you.

My one tip from today was to try to cover up the timer if you can so you can't clock-watch. I just focussed on some good, upbeat music instead.

Good luck for tomorrow evening, and remember the note on your fridge.

Hmmm! Just fished out a stopwatch for tomorrow so I could see how close I was getting to the end of a 3 minute "lifetime" run. So exhausted normally when I'm running on the hamster wheel I can't do the sums on the treadmill clock. Could be right, though, so maybe I'll try both approaches and as long as I keep moving that will not only be OK it will be a miracle!
