I've just finished my first run of week 2. I've decided I need to find another route. I waited until later in the day when it was cooler, but there were still several people (most of whom I knew) walking their dogs. I had to stop for cars (our road is a very narrow country road) but fortunately didn't see anyone during the 'run' sections. I tried going off road which was OK (it was our field) but I was worried about turning my ankles. Anyway I finished. There was a point when I actually felt like I was 'running' rather than the 'staggering shuffle' as had been very slow as advised. I'm still amazed I managed. I'd bought some more trainers - very cheap and cheerful so not too supportive but very light, and comfortable and this seemed to have helped. More puffing but I don't think my face was quite as red as W1 R1. I daren't look at what is coming up, but happy so far.

Well done! I was running along country lanes earlier in the week and I found it really tricky. Have you got any other ideas for routes?

It sounds tricky that...trying to do this programme in an area with very narrow country lanes, but having a nice, light and comfortable pair of trainers is an absolute must in my opinion, so well done on getting them. That should really help. Anyway, all the best for w2r2!
