Am I Mad????

I am aiming to finish my C25K journey August Bank Holiday weekend so I felt I needed a little more motivation past that....

So I have signed up for the British Heart Foundation September Marathon - run or walked during the month of September...not in one go but over four weeks :-)

My gorgeous nephew (one of 5) sponsored me first and I am doing it as my wonderful Mum in law died this year of vascular dementia bought about by a succession of strokes and if I can help other escape this dreadful demise I will......

Think it will really help me past the C25K graduation stage where, knowing me, I might rest easy and think done project?....instead of keeping with it....wish me to get to graduation first :-)

  • Crumbs!!!! That is an awesome thing you are willing to give a go at.! Very best wishes for you☺

  • OOOO....think I need to edit that post ......marathon over 4 weeks not in one go...otherwise my heart would give out x :-)

  • I was wondering to be honest :)

  • Whoops! 😬

  • You are still awesome though :)

  • Thanks John but I've got to do it yet 😬and I know I'm really pushing myself but hey ho in for a penny, in for a pound 😀

  • Remember - it will either be a Practice for the next fund raiser or a 'success' ;) Either way - you are AWESOME! :)

  • Wow! That is a good challenge. You will have to keep us updated

  • That is a really interesting challenge to get your teeth into and such a good organisation to do it for

  • Not mad at all. That sounds like a brilliant follow on once you've graduated and an awesome charity to raise money for too :) Marvellous idea :)

  • Getting up to 6.5 miles between graduation and your first run does sound mighty ambitious. Run/ walk sounds like the route for you. Research the Galloway method. Good luck.

  • Think I've worked it out so I do 3 x 3km runs each week equaling ( 36k) - I am currently on W7 and doing 3k in 36 mins of the programme - so the additional 6 km I need I'll do by walks in between days - If I manage to run every other day then I will do the 42k without walking.....I'm exhausted just thinking about it!!

  • Hope you do well. Good luck 😊

  • Good Luck Kate,

I lost my Dad with vascular dementia, it is a horrible, cruel disease .

    Best wishes to you xxx

  • It sure is 😔

  • I love the idea of doing the marathon over 4 weeks. As to whether you're mad or not I don't know... given that you can walk or run I would imagine that it's eminently do-able - it's just under 7 miles a week. Have fun x

  • Sounds great challenge. I looked at that too but didn't want to over commit myself as its going to be a busy time for me then . I think you have the whole month to run that ir in- good luck! I

  • Hi Kate, what a great plan (much more ambitious than the 3k I've signed up for!) I wish you lots of luck for September. Vascular dementia is a horrible disease - my 90yr old Nanna suffers with it, so I know how hard it is on family members x

  • It is Polly - horrid - will be a real challenge but I'm going to give it a go :-)

  • Probably! Ha Ha! Like most of us!😁 I understood what you said, over 4 weeks, shouldn't be a problem, what a great commitment for a good cause Kate, I wish you all the best!😊
