I covered 3.9k today because I ran 5, 5, 10 rather than 5, 5, 5.
I just felt like I could go on on the last run so I did.... Then I wondered should I have? Am I getting ahead of myself...should I just calm down and stick with Laura?

Well done! Generally, I d say, stick to the programme as it's very easy to get carried away and overdo things, then end up injured. So many of us have thought we've cracked this running lark, can keep going faaarr longer than Laura tells us...and then come a cropper and realise that she really does know what she's talking about!
However, an extra five minutes probably won't have done any harm as a one-off.
You run the risk of getting your wrist slapped by everyone on here! I went a bit and beyond Laura each week. My thinking was that if I could stretch myself a little then the forthcoming schedule of runs wouldn't seem so scary. But if I felt like I needed to stop on Laura's command, then I could. The official and sensible advice is to stick with Laura. But I've never been particularly official or sensible.
I'll leave others to give you the reprimands on potential bone and muscle damage for new runners. I fully understand why you went a bit above and beyond. Officially... don't. Unofficially... well done you!
By W5 your fitness level should have improved enough to allow you to run a little bit longer, if you feel like that. Just pay attention not to overdo it.
I was also naughty often, just not by too much, I did 5,5 and then 8 minutes on that run because 5 got me 3/4 of the way round a reservoir so I kept on to do a full lap, I then did 22 minutes on wk5r3 and then 28 minutes instead of 25, 30 instead of 28 and then on the last week just ran on for at least 5 k which would be 33 up to 36 minutes...Didn't do me any harm but wouldn't like to encourage insubordination!
Most of us have wandered off the path a bit☺ People do things their way..and it is their choice☺
I stuck to the programme with only the odd deviation because for me it was the only way that I felt I would make it ☺
Graduated, in week nine, running 5K in 30 mins and now building up slowly ,currently 7K...☺
My lovely friend secan says...main thing is for folk not to overdo it☺
You run your way..well done! The merit of the programme lies in its careful structure, building week on week. It is formulated to help build up stamina over the nine weeks Designed to hopefully get you to running for thirty mins, comfortably and hopefully injury free.
Most of us have pushed ourselves a little and carried on,just for fun and because we can☺ Thing is,if you follow it through..you will get there..then you do as you like☺
The advice given isn't really wrist slapping, more sensible advice to help the less experienced of us to enjoy our journey☺
Go you..onwards and upwards!
I'll try to stick to the programme for the rest of the week.... I'm still feeling ok tho!
