Took an extra day off as my knees have been really sore. Rested them, took naproxen plus yesterday husband rubbed ibuprofen cream into knees. Felt okish today so thought I'd go for it.
Not to be, made it to 10.05 and had to quit, left knee felt like someone had stuck a needle through the centre. I'm gutted!
An hour later, its ok, elevated and a bit tingly but ok.
Will have a rest day and try again on Sunday 😞

I'm no expert but I have had to take a couple of extra days off due to knee pain while doing this programme and at one point thought I may not be able to do the programme. I have to say that with a good pair of trainers, an additional days rest when required and my knees have actually got better as I've entered the latter stages of the programme. I think the muscles supporting them get stronger. Perhaps once you are a little more comfortable it may be worth doing some knee strengthening exercises on the rest days. I hope things work out for you.
I have arthritis in my knees and have had arthroscopy and debribment with ligament repair 3 years ago- I did weights for 3 weeks before and went swimming 3 times a week before I started running- this seemed to have protected me from injury and have been able to complete the programme injury free. I only run outside on special occasions- instead of gait analysis I got really cheap trainers from sports direct and ran in the ones which were most comfortable. I do get pain but I have hyper mobility as well and if I don't guard my knee it can really hurt when I am running so I go slow and steady. This may not help you but it has really worked for me hope you are up and running soon
When I was a teen I kept tearing my left knee ligament, and at 20 had it repaired via surgery. Since then it's always been weak so never run.
Before starting c25k I did a few weeks of "not your average 5K" and once I built up to a minute started this program. I cycle and walk on rest days just to keep active. Until w5 r2 it was niggly but not a problem, thought I'd just keep plugging away and it would strengthen up.
I wear Brooks Transcend, do stretches before I start too. Maybe I should invest in a knee strap?
I was truly gutted, was pumped for the run and held those gremlins at bay, 9 minutes in and it was agony, kept going thinking it would pass but had to stop it was so bad.
Not sure if I have some arthritis there, but the cracking when I bend it, plus my popping ankle may suggest there could be.
You need to go your docs & get referral to rhumetology & physio if it's causing you this much bother- I am on really strong anti-inflammateries as well ☺
You need to look after your legs and maybe take a week off to fully recover. I would be concerned if my knees hurt on a run and also afterwards, think they are telling you something. You can always put in some walking or light cycling if you must move. I introduced stretch and flex exercises which has helped me greatly and my knees are great nowadays. The other thing is to avoid running on hard surfaces, try to find grass or a muddy track, builds all round leg strength with less impact on the shins and knees. Hope you will recover soon
