Week 5 Run 3

Well 1 day later minus the snow, just a little bit of slushyness and I amanged to kick week 5's ass. Maybe the 10 minutes I ran yesterday gave me confidence that I could do it. My plan in my mind was to try and keep a pace of 11 minute miles and if I got anywhere near 2 miles after 20 mins then I would be happy. Another plan of mine - which i would hope would not backfire was to run the opposite way round - I just didnt fancy that incline on about 8 mins. Well as you know from most my posts I am not great at pacing myself and todays aim of 11 minute miles were well off the mark. my pace was ranging between 9min 6 Sec to at its worst 9 min 54 sec. However the last 2 mins could have been slower but I had blocked runkeeper out of my head at that point and was just gritting my teeth praying for it to be over. Well i Was extremeley happy that i completed the run and did not walk and I covered 2.06 miles( just over a lap of the Memorial park) and boy I am so happy right now. Yes I will try and slow that pace down but it felt OK - some of the run was tough when i had an incline but overall i thought I was alright at around the 9:35 mark. I have not stopped smiling whilst typing this and cant wait for the next run - I never thought I would ever run for 20 mins - Thanks for all your support

I completed wk5r3 today as well, a day later than planned due to the slush we had left. I have been grinning like a Cheshire Cat ever since!

Well done for getting so far!

Well done to you too.

The conditions were great for running in (other than a little slush). I did try yesterday but only managed 10 mins before I had to quit - running in the snow is not me

Keep up the good work

Well done bertiesugar😊...it's a great feeling once you have that run done!

Now you know you can go on and Graduate with 30 minute runs...!

Don't skimp on your rest days though, they are important to stay injury free. You will even benefit from extra rest days between your runs as your runs get longer...😊x
