Week 5 completed!!

Hi everyone, just a quick update to say i completed week 5 today!! I was pretty nervous about the 20 minute run so i got up at 5:30am to run when it's quiet and noone is around to see my potential struggle! It was a freezing cold morning but pretty still and dry so nice conditions. After 5 minutes, right on cue, i started to get a stitch in my right side- this has ben happening like clockwork ever since week 4. However i kept going, only stopping for a few seconds to bend over which seemed to alleivate the pain. When Laura said i had done 20 minutes i was feeling so good i kept going and ended up running all through the warm down so that makes a total of 25 minutes continuous running! Couldn't stop smiling when i got home, i never believed I could run for 25 minutes at the start of this programmes but it shows what a good mental attitude can do and to trust the programme!! Onwards to week 6 next week :)

Fantastic! Sounds like its going really well for you. I think so many of us have surprised ourselves with this programme at what we are capable of and that can have such a positive impact on our self esteem. Good luck with week 6!

Well done Skennedy0909, you have every right to be proud of yourself. I am about to complete week one (R3 in a moment) and I feel on top of the world after every run I have achieved. Never before have I looked forward to exercise like I do with Couch to 5k.

Good luck with week 6, enjoy!

Well done! Sounds great! Try drinking more water prior to your run to avoid the stitch problem.

I read an article the other day that says you should have 500ml of water a couple of hours before training.

Well done! I purposely look for week 5 runner's just to see how they coped with the 25 min runs! Its pretty awesome to see everyone smashing it with confidence.

Makes my anxiety about it go away that little bit more. (W2R3 on Saturday)
