After the joy of running 20 minutes at the end of week 5, I've found the first two runs of week 6 frustrating, having to run for shorter intervals with walks.
So I went out looking forward to today's challenge. It was around 12.45 so fairly hot. Having read many posts by others passing through this stage, I was confident that I could do it provided I kept my pace slow and steady.
Into the last 5 minutes I thought about keeping going if I still felt good but when Sarah said one minute to go and speed up if you can I took that option and finished off with probably the fastest I've run in the whole C25K.
So, I'm feeling pretty good although I notice 'something' in my left quad which a bit of stretching should hopefully sort out. Rest day tomorrow then on to week 7!
I've attached a photo of the field I run around. The perimeter is about 880 metres.

Yep, that's normal, most folk are surprised by the first two runs in week 6. You know you can do week 7 now, because it's all 25 minute continuous runs and you've already done one of those.
Thanks for your encouragement. You're right, I do know I can do week 7 now and I'm looking forward to the progression from here to the end of the program.
Good photo, notice how 'green' the field is not, drought and no rain is making England not a very pleasant land at the moment. Glad you enjoyed your run but be careful regarding your left quad, stretching exercises should sort that out.
Thanks for your words of advice. It's feeling much better following stretches last night and I'll be doing more today. It hasn't rained here for weeks so it's not surprising the grass has turned straw colour!
I'm a couple of runs behind you, I'm about to embark on week 6 tonight. I don't really want to go back to intervals and I've heard it can be surprisingly challenging. Well done on getting through week 6!
Thank you for your kind words. I'm very happy with the field and I really enjoy running round it. There are lots of butterflies and dragonflies. Good luck with your w6r1. Just remember the mantra: slow and steady!
Great stuff Flyingred! And well done for running even later than I did today! That must have been hot, but your field looks like the perfect place for a run! Nice! 😁😁❤️
It looks lovely there! I run on nice flat old railway lines in beautiful countryside and enjoy the butterflies and dragonflies too! Just finished week 6 run 2 today, mine have all been in the full sun of the afternoon. I'll be interested to know what it feels like running when it is cooler....or raining even!!! I've also been finishing with a burst of speed. I find the slow run isn't a natural pace for me but is the only way to learn. I'll be interested to see if I can develop to a more natural feeling faster pace in time as it feels good to move faster! I am hooked! Happy running!
Thank you. Your route sounds ideal. The slow pace doesn't sit naturally for me either. In the early weeks I was ending the running interval out of breath and I had to teach myself to set off slow and to stop myself speeding up. The long runs (w5r3 and w6r3) have encouraged me to set off slowly and that seems to have worked. Happy running to you too!
