Completed!!!! And it's down to this forum and the lovely people on here. I was a very active child and teenager, very competitive at sports, (it's not the taking part that matters, it's the winning was my motto) I represented my school at district sport days, cross country and was in hockey and netball teams. After I left school it all stopped, jobs, getting married, having kids. I did some aerobics classes in the 80s (anyone remember Jane Fonda?) That's about it, then 4 years ago my mum had a stroke and looking after her and seeing the effects it has had on her I recently decided I was going to do something to lessen the chances of it happening to me. One of my sons (a runner) suggested c25k, I looked it up and found this forum and after reading some of the inspirational posts decided to give it a go. It wasn't easy at times and it certainly wasn't pretty. But what I have got out of it is increased fitness, I feel I am doing something positive about my health, and I have recaptured my love of being active that I had as a youngster. I intend to carry on the 3 x 30 mins for a few weeks and will then increase until I have reached the 5k mark then maybe in the new year gradually increase until I can do 10k. My first event is next week! A Santa fun run. Thank you everyone on here for the great encouragement you give and I hope now I am a graduate that I can help newer runners on their journey.

Well done Sandy, that's a lovely post! Congratulations on graduating. I too was someone who loved sport when younger and then slowly became more inactive during my twenties. Now 50, and thanks to C25k and the amazing support on this forum, I am fitter than I have been in years and running further and more regularly than I have ever done before! That is a good feeling! Aiming for my first 10k in the spring. Good luck with all your goals - I am sure you will reach them😀👍
Many congratulations Sandy. You can feel proud of what you've achieved and you won't look back. You've got lots of running adventures planned and I wish you good luck for your Santa fun run!
We can't always control what will happen to us as we get older but we can certainly improve our chances and you've made a massive contribution by becoming a runner - stick with it. You know by now how enjoyable it is, and how much good it will do you.
Congratulations Sandy, that's great to hear! I was delighted to see you now have the graduate badge after your name!! Enjoy your Santa fun run. I managed my 5k race last Saturday, running all the way. Was over the moon to do it! Good luck with the rest of your running too.
