Feeling very proud of myself today. Background story, as a child/teenager I absolutely hated running in school. In Cross Country I was always last or second to last, I absolutely hated it, I would walk most of it then run the last 50 metres to the finish. 100, 200 metres was fine but long distance running was a big fat no no!!! Fast forward to last year after talking to a friend I downloaded the Couch to 5K app being determined to run and get a bit fitter. Well I did the first 2 runs in Week one then gave up, why I have no idea! Fast forward to the beginning of 2020 I still had not looked at the app or done anything about it. Then Coronavirus came along and lockdown was implemented. So how am I going to get my steps in now. Scrolling through my phone I found the app and thought “well lets give this a go and see what I can do”. First 3 weeks were fine then I decided to sprain my ankle on a walk with my hubby, no running for 6 weeks!! 😢😢 Did I give up, no, after 6 weeks I was determined to get back on it again. I actually enjoyed getting up in the morning to go out for my early morning runs, trust me though some days were tough but I stuck at it. Then at the beginning of Week 7 I would be running for 25 minutes, oh my word, can I do this. Well yes I can and I did. And I kept on going. This week I have run for 30 minutes non stop and today I graduated. No I have not hit the 5K in 30 minutes (I run as slow as a tortoise) but I did not stop and kept on going for 30 minutes. Thank you Michael Johnson for being my coach and getting me through this. Tonight I will celebrate with a G&T and some chocolate raisins. 😀🥳🏃🏾♀️🏅🏆🎉🎊🍸🍫
