Sorry to hear that you're still hurt! Is there a way you can cross train in the meantime? any ideas when you'll be healed? Sorry.
Hey Jennie,
I am just back from a chest infection.
I kind of feel your pain.
Not being able to train is so soul destroying and impacts your confidence. It did with me.
The good news is you will be back soon and we are all here for you
Ashxxx
I'm sorry your still out of action. Is it still the hamstring? Have you seen your GP yet? I know how it feels on the IC. If you can get someone to give you some sort of timeframe or at least some exercises getting you in the right direction it could help. My physio worked really hard on my frozen shoulder getting me back to running and my doc sent me to him because they now know it's better For us to be running for our health. Hopefully you will see a light at the end of the tunnel soon. We are always here for you.
I went to the docs and it's still my hamstring but also the running has aggravated my original back problem of herniated disc so I'm very stiff and the nerve pain is horrible. Im on meds for both and sleeping tablets as I can't sleep with the pain. I'm so pissed off because I've been pain free for 12 months
Oh dear ! That sounds horrendous. You are in pain as your poor back is inflamed. Ice is good for inflammation. I dare say the meds will kick in but they take a while so hit it with the ice on a regular basis. I kept frozen polystyrene cups of ice and those silicone muffin moulds in the freezer and you just slip one out of the cup and play it over the painful area. Each cup lasts about 8 to 10 minutes. You'll need a towel! Once the inflammation subsides hopefully you will feel freer and the irritated nerves will calm down. I would try and keep mobile!
Watch what you eat! It's easy to over eat at times like these, and while you're not burning many calories you can put on weight, which is not good for your painful back or joints
Keep us posted on how you're getting on. I have been on the IC for months and it's horrible to think you're on your own. You're not! There are folks here who will prop you up.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear of your injuries. Just read back and see you have hurt your hamstring and now your poor back.
Does your GP offer in-house physio? If he/she could give you a potential timeframe for recovery, at least you would have something to work towards and keep your spirits up.
Keep checking in on here.
My back problem I've had for five years but managed it with exercise and meditation but it became worse when my hamstring went !!! X
I hope you get it under control soon. It's so disheartening when injury strikes. X
Horrible to be stuck. What is ur injury, is any other exercise possible for u??
Hi Joolie I have herniated disc problem for 5 years it's been ok for the last 12 months been quite active spinning and kettlebell training so thought I'd be ok running got to week 5 run 3 when I pulled my hamstring which then aggravated my back I'm gutted because I was really enjoying the running
Aw Jennie , this is such a blow for you .
I can imagine that you are feeling really down and I wish there was something I could say or do to make you feel better xxx
We are here if you want to come on here and vent or have a good moan. Lets hope this is soon all over for you xxx
Ahh Jenny! Sorry to hear that, chinup, Hopefully you will be back soon with us lot....π
All the best with your recovery. Keep the trainers on standby.
Oh Jennie, I know how frustrating it can be...
Come and have a virtual cup of tea and cake on the IC
You mentioned you managed your herniated disk with meditation - Are you still practicing it? and have you followed a particular program ( Breathworks o MBSR) ? Just curious
