Ok, so I went on my first park run which was on the Wimpole Estate in Cambridgeshire. I have to admit that it was a learning curve and I am pleased I did it. My time that I was aiming for was about 40 minutes and I am pleased to say that I got 40 minutes and 7 seconds so the glass is half full for me today. I did not run the entire course and it was a run walk run walk 5k. It was hard but I am pleased to have got round the course and pleased at the time. I'm sure my photo will be on their site later on as the photographer was taking a picture of me and I gave him a cheaky smile which he commented on after the race. I finished 296th out of 299(that was never the goal). Next week I guess I need to look at breaking the 40 minute barrier.

Well done! If your run was anything like ours today, it was HOT out there, so getting a time like that was an achievement. The bar has been set now - wait til next week and see if you can get one of those magic PBs against your name. A couple of those and you will be hooked, too!

Nice work. Nothing wrong with a run-walk strategy, my current 5k pb had a nice walk break in it.

Definitely agree, my park run pb run/walk is 2.5 minutes faster than my run all the way time !!
