Husbands 20min Run

As you may be aware I am running with my husband who is now on Week 6. He was supposed to do his Week 5 run 3 (the big one :) ). on Friday but life got in the way, so Saturday was the plan. He was ill on Saturday ( I think he poisoned himself :) ) . So yesterday is was then. We decided that the last run of the week will be in a different place just to keep things interesting. So off we went yesterday further up the coast. We went to Prestatyn and parked up. It was a bit windy so we ran into the wind so that the wind would be behind us on the way back when he would be tired. It was tough and the pavement was hard. He decided to run slowly and complete the 20 minutes - Good Idea. We run along the beach for a bit but the breakers kept getting in the way. After about 4 minutes running I realised I had not started Strava so I started this whilst running (not easy :( ). David asked how far we have run and Laura was showing 2 mins - that couldn't be right. Anyway we carried at about 6 mins the pathway slopes away to the beach and the only flat bit was covered in sand, but the sand was dry and very soft. I went on the outside so that David was on the flattest bit. I soon realised this wasn't great as I could feel pain in my hip from hitting the ground harder on one side. We go to 10 minuets and turned around. We ran down to the beach again and run there - better than the slope. We run back and eventually we had 2 mins to go. David decided to sprint at this point - I am not a sprinter :) . I kept up for a while then he changed to 3rd gear and off he went :). When the end came we were no way near where we had started.

I stopped strava and the Garmin and we did the cool down walk. When we downloaded the data Starva says 19.49 mins (this was put on late), Garmin says 24.33 mins (I stopped this second) and Samsung says 23 mins (this is automatic. So all in all Laura lied to my husband !!! But he did it and here is the post run shot. He felt better than he thought and got those post run highs which was great to see.

We are going to try somewhere with more distractions next week.

PS not a great photo - HIs head isn't really that big he was closer to the phone than me :)

WEll done Stef and David! Running by the sea on a windy day is a bit hard core but good practice.

Tell David good luck with the rest of the programme. Make sure he doesn't put off his runs til another day. Wags finger

I've not run by the sea. It's on my "to-do" list though

Thank you. Living in Wales most of our runs are in the wind !! I can't wait to go on holiday and run somewhere without wind, I am sure I could probably get a good time :)
