Music for my ears?

Hi everyone I'm on week seven and now I'm thinking it would be nice to listen to some music as I run as I can help to pace myself and work out where I am on the run through the tracks I'm listening to. My question - any suggestions for inspirational music that will help to keep me going through week 7-9? Look forward to hearing from you! x

Hello Andrea, I was listening to chart stuff until recently when I decided to try running to Queen! It depends what your music taste is. I'm enjoying running to Queen as I was about 10 when they were singing we are the champions which was probably how old I was when I last ran round and stood up on my bike with the wind in my hair! So it's psychological for me :-)

Thanks, I'll put a bit of Queen on my i-phone as well then :-)

I second queen..."we are the champions" along with MPeople's "proud" and Irene Cara have kept me going so many times!!

If you really need a push there's always chariots of fire...I doubt there's many British peeps of my age who haven't wanted to run in slowmo on a beach at some point ;)

I make weekly playlists lasting the time of the run so if I'm close to giving up I can tell myself I can just keep going "to the end of this song" or "I'll finish after queen" ;)

Hi Cheshiregal, that's why I thought music would be good too! It would be another goal to aim for - just to get to the end of the song, or 'only one more to go'. I love Laura, find her motivational, but sometimes there's a long gap between hearing her and I wonder where I'm up to, so music will help I think :-)

The podcast presentation of NHS C25K does it all for you (granted that some people may feel that it helps by making you want to avoid having to listen to some tracks again!)

OK, I did day one of week 7 yesterday and tomorrow I'm going to do it with music and see how that compares. I've got an eclectic mix of music, as some is my teenage daughter's but I like some of the stuff she listens to and she is one of my motivations in life, so that's all good. So far on my play list is: All Time Low by the Wanted, Call me Maybe by CarlyRae Jepsen, Don't Stop Me Now by Queen, Ho Hey by the Lumineers, What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction, Who Says by Selena Gomez and So What by Pink. I'm quite looking forward to tomorrow now! :-)

Love hearing everyone's music choices x

Do you have spotify? There are loads of running playlists on there, and you can search to find ones that match your pace/BPM which can be really helpful and motivating.

Other tracks I love to run to (among a lot of others!) are

Tina Turner - Proud Mary and River Deep mountain high

Beastie boys- sabotage

Pharrell - Happy

Fine young cannibals- good thing

Gwen Stefani - what you waiting for

what doesn't kill you makes you Stronger - carly/Kellie someone???

black eyes peas - pump it

Hope that helps!

Great songs on there gnimia! I absolutely love 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger' - it got me through chemotherapy for breast cancer two years ago and it's definitely on my play list for running! My daughter uses Spotify, I've not got that far, but I'll have a look! Happy running (as Pharrell might say!) xx
