Last Friday I got on the dreadmill for the first time in weeks this time I had Laura with me, " right here goes w1d1, " I did it I was so pleased I nearly cried. So Monday gets here " right let's do w1 d1 again just to make sure it wasn't a fluke". Yep did it again, Wednesday comes round w1d2 hmmm really didn't want to get on the machine but I did. Struggled a little bit as I was feeling pain in my leg. Turns out I've got tight ligaments. :(. So Friday has arrived w1d3 or do I class it as w2d1?? You have to remember that I'm 5:4 and over 18 st in weight so this is a big thing for me, oh I can walk and walk miles but jogging is a little different..
Thank you Laura. : Last Friday I got on the... - Couch to 5K
Thank you Laura.
Yes, you made a great start! That's sometimes the hardest bit. I would not miss out any runs so I would do week 1 day 3. It is fine to repeat runs as necessary if you don't manage them or for extra confidence, but don't miss any. Have you done the stretches that are on here? There is a link to them on the pinned list at the right hand side of the page. They really are important to do and should help. Keep going
You're off the couch so firstly - well done !! It's all about feeling happy about it , slow and steady really works in building your stamina. I have really found that rubbing that Voltarol gel into my calves before I run means they ease and I don't focus on how they feel.
Best of luck and keep going
Well done for taking the first step and thanks for posting about it. Slowly but surely you will get there!
Don't skip any of the runs! It'll come back to haunt you!
You are doing great already, so just keep going with the programme and you will be amazed. If you struggle with any of the runs, then just repeat them and just don't be phased by it. We have all had off days at some point.
Well done for getting started, that is the hardest part done already...
Well done for going for it. Was a big step for me too. Only just started.
Well done to you!!! What a massive step you've taken just doing your 1st week, one so many others never will but should!! I'm nearly at the end of week 7 and there have been alot of hard runs but alot of it is mind over matter if you just trust and follow Laura. Very best of luck - remember Rome wasnt built in a day, but you'll be at week 9 before you know it x
Welcome AD! Well done for getting started on the programme. You can do it ! There are loads of peeps on here your age and much older so no worries on that score. We have folks of all sizes too but the programme fits all so you'll be fine. You just have to take your time with it. Slow jogging is all that's required
I was in a race recently and a young lady helped me out by giving me some water (gasp) and she told me that she was 18 stones not so long ago. She was a Graduate of C25k too!!!!!!! She was entering races right, left and centre. The race we were on was 10 miles! I could hardly believe we were both doing it cos I'd lost four stones too. But there we were DOING IT!
It just shows how we can turn our lives round by running and watching our weight
Good luck!
Lol. Think it looks like I'm 54 that's 5ft 4inch I'm 44 lol....... That's it wk1 D3 done moving on, This was the 6th time I've attempted c25k in the past year just kept getting frustrated that I couldn't even run 60 sec BUT bloody hell I've conquered w1 at last
