... I didn't miss you. I fully expected to but I think our relationship has come to a natural conclusion π
I set out this evening with no expectations and no plan other than a vague idea of the route. I did my 5 mins warm up, then just ran. There was nothing monumental, no epiphany, it just felt right.
I'd love to say it felt good π but I couldn't seem to go slow enough to get my breathing right and there was too much snot (sorry, uncouth of me) The legs felt good but I got quite tired towards the end which gave me neck and shoulder ache as my posture deteriorated.
A total of 22 mins run time today. Its not the 30 mins but having given blood on Friday I then nearly fainted whilst riding on Sat. So I'm pleased with what I did.
Do you know I think I might be liking this running malarky π€π
Happy running folks xxx
Ps I'm sorry but I don't like Vanessa Phelps doing the Sara Cox show on Radio 2. How long have I got to put up with her?

I know, I know, but I generally find radio hosts to be really irritating. I'd rather play a CD at home but a playlist doesn't work for me when running.
R2 ruined Simon Mayo drivetime π€¬ by adding in Jo Wiley (she has a late evening voice imho so tea time just wasn't right). I wasn't sure about Sara Cox before she started but I like her. I can run listening to her. I've grown used to her being my c25k background sound.
Hopefully I only have to suffer VP on Thurs and normal service resume next week.
I've abandoned radio 2! Can't get on with Sara Cox or her mate in the morning π€£ well done!! Just starting my consolidations too but have a massive blister on my arch which stopped me at 27 mins into Laura
No βtell Laura I love herβ on your playlist then?
Well done getting out there... the pacing will come, some days I canβt slow down and so I go short, the next run Iβm usually good to slow down. On the subject of snot, I had none, set off for my 10k and my nose was almost instantly blocked... but it was ok, in cooldown it went straight into free flow... howβs that for TMI? π€£
Your post sounded just like my run tonight...couldnβt manage much more than 25 minutes and I looked like Hunchback of Notre Dame by the end π€£π€ͺ (no snot tho) that would have finished me off.
Funny about the relationship with Laura just coming to a natural conclusion π. Iβm on consolidation run week 1 and started listening to podcast instead of my running music playlist. Found a funny one and was chuckling away as I ran. Got a few odd looks but was having a good time and the 30 minute run actually felt easier!
I used to run to the Radio 2 confessions podcasts. So can relate to the running chuckle/odd looks. Just occasionally I'd find myself saying nooooo or OMG out loud, forgetting no one else could hear what I was hearing. They really think you're nuts then π€ͺπ€ͺπ€ͺ
Good for you though forget the fact about times done etc...you gave blood so it must make a huge difference on your body. My last run was awful I have to say. I tried to go farther than I have ever done and ended up with my leaden legs and I know I got to ambitious so paid for it, and yes I have pulled a muscle in my "polite word" behind...would you believe. I guess it does bounce a lot behind me. So after a rest day yesterday I tried to have a little run today only my a** shouted no no no⦠so another rest day for me. It is a roller coaster but today I am irritable as I did not run..(who saw that coming) . We are all on a learning curve but boy are we all trying...keep running and don't pull anything
Butt ache is surprisingly painful. You have my sympathy π€
Have you tried using a foam roller on it? You might need to contort to hit the spot, I think I had to cross my left ankle over my right knee then angle my weight onto my left buttock before I could roll the spot I needed. Painful to start with but resolved my niggle. Worth a go? π€·ββοΈ
Haha... I dumped her just as quickly lol. Purely because I just enjoy running with nothing but music and my thoughts. Though Coach Bennett occasionally gets a look-in on my long runs.
What a fabulous photo... Empress tree? We have them in front of the Central Library in Mancs and when they flower I almost bump into people as I walk past as I can't help staring up at them!
Well done on the run... I do think it takes a couple of weeks to get into your stride with the 3 x 30 mins runs. They will be comfortable for you in no time.
I missed your graduation post - congrats!! Please keep posting - I love your words.
Me - I was sooooo worried that I wouldnβt even be ABLE to run without a voice in my ear... but now the βjust a runβ runs are my favourite. This week I paced through clouds of cow parsley, intense red poppies, fields of barley and scampered alongside several squirrels. The rain was stinging my skin a bit (I REALLY like running in the rain though - sorts out the overheating issues!) but I felt like a very grown up runner indeed!!
Those runs where you notice nature are just the best x and yes you are a grown up runner ππππ
I have yet to run in proper rain. I'm a bit of a wuss in that respect. So far I've been lucky with the weather. That s bound to change soon but i will try to remember your positive spin that at least it keeps you cool x
Must be my time for the not quite right run. Just could not get going this morning with stepping stones. My breathing was all wrong and the coughing I have been doing is really hurting my chest . Cut it short this morning 20 minutes better than nothing . Hoping for better on Friday . Even faithful spaniel was surprised at my turning back this morning!
Thanks. I like going, not only do you get free tea and biscuits π but they always tell me how special I am my blood gets a gold tag because it's super duper blood that helps people with sickle cell anaemia π
Have you thought about giving yourself some extra days rest? The cough sounds nasty π
Iβm hoping Iβll feel better on Friday, Iβm not one for being ill, but the cough is a real pain. Iβll walk tomorrow with faithful spaniel, and hopefully Friday will be better!
Funny how we get used to people on the radio, I too miss Simon but not Jo never got to grips with her, and Iβm a virgin in a morning with Chris Evans. Iβm hoping I have the discipline to carry on alone when I graduate, well done for getting out there, thatβs the main thing x
I agree R2 gone down the pan lol. Iβve been running with the βThereβs no such thing as fishβ pods. Theyβre the QI researchers and I find myself chuckling out loud at some parts. Not everyoneβs taste but I love the silly facts and comments. πππ
