And another unsuspecting C25Ker is unexpectedly nearly floored by the dreaded W6R1... don't worry Lisa, so many people here have found exactly the same thing (I actually had to take painkillers as a result of W6R1, it was carnage!!). I have no idea why going back to intervals is so hard after running that awesome first 20, but it seems to be. Don't feel deflated, feel proud - it gets better, you are doing brilliantly well and are so nearly there!

Thank you T T .... It was horrid, but reading that so many felt the same gives me strength! I will persevere! X

I needed 2 stabs at this one. On my first attempt I hit a brick wall about halfway through the 8 minute run. Had to stop and give up. Felt totally deflated as this was the first time in the program I'd failed to complete a session. Had a couple of rest days, picked myself up, changed my route and nailed it on second try. Was still insanely hard but powered through!

Oh Yaf it was a killer but it looks like a lot of people think so too! Onward & upward.... Roll on run 2... Eeeek

Nooooo....why deflated? You've done something fantastic! You're building stamina which will propel you on to even greater things.

This isn't a speed trial, you won't get faster quickly. You won't be able to suddenly run for over 20 minutes. It's a slow, steady process that takes time to accomplish, sort of one step forward, two steps back, then two steps forward, one step back....just embrace it for what it is and be proud of what you're achieving!

I found it horrible too m'dear, it sounds like everyone does. Hoping to tackle r2 tomorrow but may wimp out and leave it a few days until my poor legs have recovered. But hey, we did it, maybe not easily, but we finished it, so well done us!! xx

W5 was the one I got stuck on. I did each run 3 times. It doesn't matter if your going slow or if you have to do it 10 times. Your doing it!

I think I need to start taking my own advice and get on with the running!!

Well done on completing the first run of week 6. It is a tough week and it's going back to intervals that seems to make it so tough, don't know why this should be. Now, you really do need to treat this week with kid gloves and take it very slow and steady - that will get you through the next run. You'll do it okay if you don't go mad. Good luck and very best wishes.

Me too JustLisa- for the first time ever my legs felt like jelly for the last few mins- that was TOUGH going. Maybe putting it off those extra few days didn't help us either, might have been easier on Thursday!! Probably ramped up the pace a bit too much too- I wasn't deliberately slowing myself they way I did for w5r3, maybe you were pushing your pace without realising? x

It is extraordinary how it seems to happen. It happened to me - I now know it happens to lots of people. That first run of week 6 is just foul. Does anybody know why? Do we all try to go too fast; are we over-confident? I don't know, But you got through it and amazingly it does seem to get better

Thanks Azores.... I certainly hope it gets better xxx

I took two rest days after W5D3 before tackling W6D1 and kept my pace slow. It wasn't too bad fortunately, so I'd suggest taking the extra rest day and going slow.

Thank you! I'm debating whether to go for run 2 tomorrow. My calves are still a little sore if I tense them, but not really bad.... What do you think?

I completed W6R1 yesterday on the treadmill. As I had completed W5R3 on Saturday morning, I thought I could increase my speed slightly on the interval runs! WRONG! I increased from 7kms/hr only upto 7.3km/hr but only just managed the first 5 mins at that rate and had to go back to 7km/hr for the 8 min and final 5 min run....was a toughy but managed it all the same. Haven't looked to see what the next run will be...I will wait until tomorrow to meet my fate! :-)

Well done Nat!!!! I'm off on Run 3 Week 7 tomorrow ... Eeeek. I really wouldn't worry about your times at this stage. I was worried about being slow & the advice I kindly got was to just complete the podcasts & follow the program. Times can be improved later. Good luck with Run 2 & take it steady!!! Xx
