After Thursdays great w5R3 I went out this morning to do W6R1 and was absolutely appalling didn't manage the full 5 mins on either of the 5 min runs but managed the 8 min one!! Looks like I'm going to have to repeat this one!

Fear not MrsC. It's a common thing to run W5R3 successfully, then go out with a large dose of reckless bravado and find W6R1 a nightmare. It happened to me and I put it down to being too cocky! After the glorious achievement of W5R3, you think you can do anything. Not so. You have to put it behind you and go out and respect that run which calls itself W6R1!! Take it easy and respect the program. You are still building fitness and stamina and you are doing GREAT!

I didn't do well on W6R1 either, i think you feel so pleased that you have done that dreaded 20 mins that you start out all confident and then wonder how it can have been such a struggle:( when its for shorter periods. Don't be down hearted, you will be ok, in my experience not every run is a good one, i know i've had a few like that and i've read on here of loads of people with similar experiences. Keep on going and i'm sure you will do well:)

I agree with Dan, I did the same thing and I think week 7 also tripped me up as well, if I remember correctly after the elation of doing 25 minutes. Sometimes you just have a bad run and you have to put it behind you and carry on. Just remind yourself how far you could run 6 weeks ago and you will know that you are making astonishing progress!

I agree with all that has been said, it is a common complaint wk6 run1. I sometimes think they made it that way so you will finish the program and build your muscles in the correct way. I am sure your next run will be fine. Happy running.

Really helpful to read this as this will be my next run on Tuesday - I have just been feeling super chuffed at finishing week 5. I guess we will all have good ones and bad ones, it is the getting back out there that counts. Good luck! :)

bad runs do build you up mentally...don't be disheartened, and you are so nearly there...well done!

Hello. I have been there the last couple of weeks. I have graduated but it happens to us all. It doesnt matter if you have to repeat. Least you are improving and in a couple of weeks youll look back and think I did it. So keep your chin up and keep going
