I started week 1 today. Feeling pretty chuffed that I managed to cover 2 miles without completely collapsing. Body feels OKish (until tomorrow) but breathing was dreadful. Please tell me this gets better! Was a tough slog but so pleased I started the plan
Anyone else started week 1 today?: I started... - Couch to 5K
Anyone else started week 1 today?
how brilliant are you for getting started!
no, the runs dont really get easier because they get longer. When you look back in 2 weeks time to week 1 you will laugh to think you ever found week 1 so hard because you will have made sooooooo much progress.
If it was easy you would not be pushing your body to achieve more AND dont forget that it is absolutely fine to keep repeating weeks until they feel a little more easy. When you get to the end of this wonderful program you will have achieved so much you will feel very proud indeed.
Good luck on the program
It does get better! In a few weeks you'll be amazed at your progress, all you need right now is to be patient and not give up.
Well done on taking the first step, keep it up!
When I started a few weeks ago I found problems with painful airways. I was advised to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth - and it sorted it for me!
I really don't think we should expect an easy ride here. We are radically changing our way of life after all. But it does get more satisfying as you tick off all the runs and you start to recover quicker and generally feel a lot better in yourself!
WELL DONE YOU for taking the plunge! Keep coming back to this lovely community for advice and inspiration. Many of us may not have got as far as we have without the support and encouragement from fellow wacky bloggerettes!
Happy running!
Well done for starting - you won't regret it. Breathing was - still is ,one of the hardest parts for me...sometimes I do such a huge yawn ( just to get some air in ) it's like I'm going to swallow my own head I did yoga for more than ten years ,so I feel I should have the breathing thing under control. It does seem to settle into normal breathing when my mind wanders off to something else I find, so maybe the more conscious we are of it ,the harder it is .
The is such a fool-proof program and there is support a-plenty at every stage for you .Well done for taking the first step and good luck with the next run.
Well done you have taken the first step in a new and healthier future. Its 3 years on 31st August that I did week1 run1 of C25K and I can honestly say I thought I was going to die!! If it hadn't been for my very stubborn nature I think that would have been my first and last run, thankfully it wasn't. It does get easier once you get your breathing right but that can take a while so don't get anxious over it. You will be amazed how well you progress, its a brilliant program and there are hundreds, no thousands now who have graduated to prove it works. Good luck, we are all here to help and support you and other new runners
