Hi , I’m in my 50’s ( late) and just started running ( of a sort) at the start of this week. I’ve finished the first 3 runs. Each one with the same trepidation directly before and the same elation/relief after. I feel better about myself than I have in a while. Great to read all the stories on here and see the positive feedback, tips and comments from everyone.

It is a simple little training plan that changes lives. Relax and enjoy it.

Me too Chris. I’m mid 50’s, and apart from a very brief unsuccessful stint about 20 years ago, I’ve never run properly.

I’ve just completed Week 2 and I’m hooked! Can’t wait for Monday morning when I’ll embark on W3R1! I feel great, and I get a real buzz after completing a run. 😀🏃‍♀️

Thanks Cheeky for the very positive feedback , just finished W2R1 and have to say that I found it difficult but very chuffed with myself when I finished.

Just waiting for the buzz/enjoyment of running to kick in but this forum is a great source of inspiration

I’ve found the forum very encouraging. I still can’t picture myself running for a full 30 minutes, but I’m reading all the comments from everyone who has completed later weeks and how worried they were beforehand, and I really believe I can do it!

Each week is designed to make your body stronger and gain more endurance, and I can vouch for the difference today compared to W1R1. It’s also nice to all be running ‘together’ so we can all compare notes!

Happy running! 😀🏃‍♀️

Jo Whiley was always a fan of her music show 😊

Apart from a brief dalliance with MJ, Sarah Millican kept me company all the way through, enjoy the programme, it has brought me benefits in all sorts of unexpected ways

Same here Gazinho , Jo and her velvet voice together with a playlist I threw together on Spotify are my encouragement. W2R1 today ... its the same feeling as pre O level exam all those years ago :)

I’m also new to running starting w3 this afternoon. 3 minuets seems a long time to a novice like me.

Will be interesting to hear how you find it 😀

I’ll let you know how it goes

Hi just got back, myself and Michael Johnson smashed it. I found running 3 minuets at a time easier than 6x90 seconds as in w2.

Fabulous! That’s great to hear! Now I can’t wait to get back out there myself. I use Michael Johnson as my trainer too - he’s fab! 😀

Hello,

I’ve just done my 3rd run of week 2. Mid 40s, couch potato, only done walking as exercise for at least 15 years!

I was dreading week 2, as I found during week 1 I was watching the countdown to the end of each run and willing the last 10 seconds to be over 😁. However, I found I was easily able to run for the extra 30 seconds, and in my final session of week 2 today I felt I could have carried on running a bit longer, which was really surprising to me!

I found that not looking at the countdown to the end of each run helped; it seemed to go faster when I didn’t know how much time I had left!

I also found the first and penultimate runs the hardest in each session during week 2 - the ones in between seemed easier.

I am still trying to get my rhythm right so I feel comfortable and not going too fast or too slow; but I realised there were a couple of runs during each session where I felt I was in a good rhythm and very comfortable, so that’s encouraging.

I look forward to each run day, and i definitely have seen an improvement between the first and second week.

Good luck, and well done for taking the first steps!

I started C25K few weeks ago after a friend encouraged me to sign up for 5k run in October

I’ve been fairly active the last 2 years but not run since school days and I’m approaching the big 50 next year

Just completed w3r2,really pleased and have managed to stay the course but actually can’t imagine running for more than 3 mins so dreading what’s to come!
