Although by " run" - it was more of a jog - but the timing worked really well and I didn't come home hating it, actually looking forward to the next one!
I find running at night works best for me, and there's a nice area in Maidenhead, a private road that pretty much works as a track late at night because there's no traffic Plus I get to avoid the plague-carriers
My goal is to do the Hackney 5k next May

Welcome to the forum. Here you will turn into a combination of Homelander from The Boys and Forrest Gump. A combination of superman and super runner, though not as Machiavellian or stupid as those two!
You’ll do it my friend. The help and advice on here is invaluable. Post about the story of your first run. Give the heading of what run you’re on so we can all help chart your progress.
Well done for getting started and welcome to the forum. It’s meant to be a slow jog, so from what you’ve said you haven’t done what most of us did and set off far too quickly! Slow and steady is the key as the programme builds your endurance and stamina.
You’ll find a wealth of experience on here! Some of us have already graduated, but still like to hang around and see what’s going on 😊.
Good luck with your journey and don’t forget to post about your runs 😀👍
Wish I had taken it slowly on my first "run" W3 R3 tomorrow or maybe Friday as my ankle hurts a bit after tripping. Probably went too fast right at the end yesterday on uneven paving . So you are right to take it easy.
