After parkrun Saturday I was desperate to get out there to do my 10k route. I went with my lad Leon who has missed running as my morning runs were too early!!
It felt amazing, there was a slight breeze and I felt strong and and also proud of my new white Lidl's running top !!
As a woman I love that feeling if being in control of my body for the first time and feeling its power, feels really sexy if you know what I mean?! I Feel more of a panther now than a fat lazy house cat!!!
Anyway we had the usual grimaces ( no one smiled) but we did get a huge hoot and wave from Darren our butcher which spurred us on ( thanks Darren)!
I did the usual 1 minute walk halfway as it re- energises me ( thanks silky Steve).
Leon and I also just chatted about anything and everything so it was nice to have my lad to myself. Good too that he kept saying faster mummy faster you are going to beat your PB!!!!
We did the 10k in 1 hour and 3 minutes, I can't believe it I'm so pleased... We are planning our 15 k on our holidays next week in Cornwall. Can't wait...
I'm just so passionate about running it's totally changed my life....and so glad it has for so many of you too..

We've certainly got a lazy fat house cat here, and even though she can stalk through the garden, she is far from being a sleek panther...
1:03 for 10k is amazing, especially on a weeknight, must have been Leon pushing you along, plus your own determination, so well done you. And good luck for your 15k too..
Thankyou MatthewW...and yes it feels good to be more like a 'panther' than a lazy house cat ( although some days I still am...) and to have some control back is so good...
Nice blog. It's great to feel that well of energy inside you, just waiting to be released.
I'm really impressed that you chatted your way to a 1:03 for 10k - that's my PB and I know I wasn't up to saying 'Bon jour' more than once or twice then, let alone talk and run at the same time!
thankyou so much Landesman....how cool we have the same PB.....well at least we can smile eh!! I so love Cornwall, I lived there from 12 and my sister lives in Truro and mum in Hayle...so I will be seeing my dearest and closest.....kids are so excited!!!
Wow - juicy has turned into a real panther. Reading your post, it's hard to believe the progress you've made in the last couple of months. Keep it up girl - you're doing us (and Leon and yourself) proud.
Panther woman ? Nah. With your orange headband, it's more like ... Foxy Lady! (:->)
Thanks Malcy, I know, I was thinking this morning as I was running along with Leon on an old route...that 6 months ago I could barely do a minute, and this morning we did 5k in 30 minutes...amazing ....foxylady??? love it...me and nicola are thinking of doing themed parkruns...next one is 'flashdance'..remember?!!!
Are you in competition with Aftabs? I'm totally impressed. And jealous - I failed to motivate my 12 year old into running with me
I liked your comment about feeling powerful and sexy - I get you there, although I also have days when I still feel like a puce-faced puce-faced heffalump!
Not sure I can compete with the bionic man...Aftabs!!!! and yes I am soo glad you get that. As a woman there is nothing more sexy than feeling in control of your body and strong...however big or little etc its in the mind...and yes I do always look like a puce faced heffalump but f*** there are no mirrors on the run eh...so we can be free?!!!!!!
