Week 9-3 Completed - with a bit extra for luck.

Yes I'm buzzing. Just got back from the third Week 9 run which means I've got to the end of the plan. I started C25K on April 18th, before this I was on a 170 mile round trip to work in the car every day and had done little of no proper exercise for a while. The pounds had piled on and I was not in a healthy position. Those 1 minute runs in the first week seemed endless and I was just about done in by the 7th out of 8 but stuck at it into week 2. I'd deliberately set the speed on the treadmill quite slowly and the aim was to be able to run for 30 minutes. I knew from early on that it would be unlikely that I would be able to run the 5k in 30 minutes anytime soon.

Well here we are with Week 9-3 done and dusted and time to reflect on some of my significant achievements on the way.

Ran my first non stop mile for about 35-40 years in the dreaded W5-3

Ran my first ever 2 mile run

Ran my first ever 2½ mile run in Week 9-2

Ran my first ever 5k today (the time was 37:30ish), I just ran off the end of the C25K podcast and kept going which means I Ran my first ever 3 mile run as well today.

So.. onwards and upwards. 5k in 30minutes is the next target.

For those of you who have graduated, you know the feeling. For those on the journey - Keep at it and if a 50+ chunky grey bloke can get to the end of week 9, you can too.

Cheers,

Kev

That is so good. To have run that little bit extra and nailed the 5K as well is a real result. Congratulations.

Thanks very much. I do need targets to aim at and I'll be ParkRunning in the near future to get to the 5k/30mins. I've also changed by club with Park Run from "Unattached" to "NHS Couch to 5K"

Well done, I graduated yesterday and am still feeling great!

Good luck with your 'Park Running,' that's my aim next.

Well done, and congrats on your nice shiny badge! :-)

Don't wait too long to Parkrun; there's loads of people not doing 5k in under 30 mins ( and quite a lot doing it in almost half that!) but I have found everyone to be really friendly and supportive, and I am bring my time down closer to that magic 30... hard work does pay off (as a getting less chunky almost 50 year old lady can testify!) ;-)

Well done Kev! It's a great feeling isn't it. It seems like loads of us have crossed the line to graduationsville at about the same time!
