very low ferritin with high iron saturation

I’m CLL , on Imbruvica since December 2022. Just received new labs.

ferritin 13.00 ng/ml (normal range 24-336)

Iron saturation 41% (normal range

It appears contradictory to me.

Iron level normal

Iron binding capacity normal.

Any insight is appreciated.

My wife has normal iron panels but her red blood cells and HGB are consistently below the normal range.

As I understand it Ferritin tests measure your reserves of iron which do need replenishing. Sometimes vegetarians and vegans have the problem that haemoglobin appears normal but they tend to feel tired and unwell because their iron reserves are very low. I had to ask for ferritin tests several times when I found out about this.

I’m fortunate that my hematologist and the oncology group is fantastic. Getting the labs report Friday evening has me looking for insight. Hopefully Monday will give some answers and solutions. Thanks
