Car-T begins tomorrow!

Just wanted to update you all about where I am with my CLL/MZL which transformed into DLBCL (still not sure if it’s Richters but definitely close) in January, 2025. I had 10 radiation treatments focused on the axial lump that was biopsied and which determined I had DLBCL, then 3 lympho depleting treatments of chemo. Tomorrow I begin the transfusion of T-cells which will hopefully fight both the CLL and the DLBCL during a 2 week hospital stay.

As I have been fighting CLL for almost 5 years and failed treatments of Acalabrutinib, Venetoclax, Pirtobrutinib and Obinutuzumab, this is apparently the best way currently to treat this wily disease. I hope so.

I would really appreciate your prayers, good wishes and any other positive thoughts you all can send my way during this next month. I am so thankful for such an amazingly supportive and compassionate group that cares about all its members.

Thanks so much. Barbara

Hello Barbara, I had CAR T for CLL one month and a half ago. I am 71 years old and will be 72 in April.

I didn't feel great for a week, with fevers and one short incident of losing contact with the surroundings, which only lasted about five hours. However, all of this was remedied quickly. I have been home since the seventh of this month, and I am getting stronger every day. Go for it, Barbara. Scientists have almost perfected this treatment; now, it is not as bad as it was years ago.

I had my CAR T at NIH, and it was a very good experience. They are still looking for candidates for this particular trial. Excellent place to take it at the institute. The doctors/scientists are fantastic, with a first-class follow-up.

Wishing you the best.

Wishing you the very best of luck with CAR-T. I participated in a clinical trial for this treatment in June of 2023 and am still in remission. Hoping you get similar success!!!

All the best,

Nan

I will keep you in my thoughts as you go through having CAR-T. I think just having that fighting spirit helps to get us through these treatments. When a patient is in the best of hands, that alone is reassuring.

Best to you,

Schubert
