Good morning runners! Decided to try Garmins half marathon 20 week half marathon plan, 1st week in the bag and finding it quite easy, short drills first few runs and a "long" run today that was a really slow 6km in total. Going to trust the process and see if the easy effort helps me build back to HM distance in the time frame.

Got weighed, small gain 🫣 179.8lbs so still under 40% of my target weight lost.

Blood pressure today came in at 123/85 94 pulse, which I believe is on the high side of normal. I went to the docs the other day and they phoned me suggesting they add Statins to my meds after some blood tests. I think my BP is falling in line with my weight loss and am already taking BP medication, not sure I need to add more? Will discuss with the surgery pharmacist when they call me.

I hope everybody is well, happy running!

Enjoy your HM plan! Btw statins don't treat blood pressure, they're used to reduce LDL cholesterol, see here: nhs.uk/conditions/statins/

Good luck with the plan. I've used Garmin plans a few times and they've worked for me. Currently on week 3 of a 13 week plan and it is starting to feel tougher now. But I "believe in the process" and will do as much as I am able.Happy running!

We certainly will. We are planning our organised runs for the year. I have used the NRC plans, so it will be useful to compare. 👍

Well done fella, glad the HM plan is going well and sounds like you’ve had some good runs. I got out today too, tried the NRC 4K distance run today and found it pretty easy (i.e. enjoyable 🤣).

My weight loss stalled too, lost 8lbs, put on 6 over Christmas and back down 5, so not quite back to pre-Christmas weight! I keep trying to convince myself I’m putting on muscle, so swapping fat for muscle will be slow 🤞here’s hoping!

Good look with the meds, hope you get it dialled in mate.

Not what you're looking for?
