Great North West Half Marathon

β€’17 Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm sat in front of my laptop with a huge smile across my face.

I completed the half marathon this afternoon in Blackpool.

My Bib No 414

My finishing time 2:57:24.2

I was aiming for 3 hours so that was a bonus.

I'm struggling to add a Photo at the moment.

If anybody can give me a tip on how to do it from my MacBook air, it would be appreciated.

As we have not eaten since 9am I'm taking my better half into Blackpool for a celebratory meal.

I will write a full description of the run this evening or if the celebrations carry on tomorrow. Hic!

I'm chuffed to bits, I set a target of this half marathon over Christmas as I wanted to complete one before my 60th birthday in May.

I hope you have all had a good weekend and great runs.

All the best.

Brilliant Wanawig, just brilliant! πŸ‘πŸ₯‡πŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸ₯‡πŸŽ‰ I did think of you this morning and I can only imagine how chuffed and proud you must be feeling right now! I can't wait to read your full run report later and hopefully admire the bling too! Rest up well, job done!πŸ˜€

Hi Sandraj,

Thanks for your thoughts, comments and best wishes.

I felt fantastic, elated, knackered and extremely chuffed.

I had aimed at 3 hours as the best I had been averaging was 14:30 min/mil on my long runs.

I aimed at 13:45 min?mil which would get me to the finish in 3 hours. I actually did 2:57:24 so I was absolutely over the moon.

I'm now just under 18 stones, so I know that as the weight falls my speed will increase.

Like yourself, I have already got to grips with the stamina aspect.

I hope you enjoy my post on my HM, I will write it and post it later today as I'm replying to all the lovely well wishers at the moment. Then we are sight seeing, eating etc. Plus were on holiday. lol

All the best.

Fantastic! Well done. You should be proper chuffed πŸ˜€

Not eaten! Seriously, get some grub! You need to eat within 30 minutes of the end of the race. I always have something to hand to shovel down in the immediate aftermath and a big dish of something waiting at home, curry or chill Which just slips down easily 🍚

Hi Misswobble,

Thanks for your reply, I was definitely chuffed.

My wife took loads of pics, I looked like a very sweaty advert for toothpaste. lol

We went back to the hotel and were eating and drinking within the hour.

I will be posting my HM run later today.

All the best.
