I run alone mostly and have to say I enjoy my solitany time out on the local paths and trails! However, over the past 6/7 months my husband has been back running following a long time out with a knee injury. Earlier in the year, as he slowly returned to running (very sensibly) using Couch to 5K, I was training for my first half marathon and out doing lots of long runs. Over the last few months however, the roles have reversed a little - I seem to have stumbled from illness to injury whilst he is now running up to 10k. So we have never run together ( well not for many years)... until this morning when we decided to both head out after an early breakfast. I am still easing back in after injury so the plan was an easy run on to the old railway line and back down towards home, after which we went our separate ways! He, on to the local Parkrun course to practice 'the hill'(!) and me back on to the local roads and home! My leg feels stronger each time I go out at the moment and my general fitness (which deserted me over the last few weeks), is returning. I could have run further today, but was sensible because getting back now is my number one priority and I don't want to sabotage things by pushing too much too soon. Listening to my body and enjoying my runs.๐ I still haven't taken my Garmin with me - I know the distances to and from everywhere on the trails where I run but I don't want to be looking at pace yet! Happy running today, folk!๐

Sorry that you've been injured recently but glad you were able to enjoy a run with your husband and it sounds like you did a sensible run. Wishing you the best in your recovery! X
Yay !!!!!! Sandra such good news you are edging back to where you were. You are doing great!
'Edging' is the word at the moment, Jacs - still keeping to short 3.5k runs but am hoping to do a 5k later in the week if everything feels ok. It really is a case of waiting for full feeling and strength to come back, and I do feel stronger each time I run BUT I guess it isn't something I can rush! ๐
This is a lovely, lovely post. Running, sharing, and totally enforcing the whole point of running. Enjoyment.
There are highs in our lives and lows, illness, injury and all that goes with it.... but this just says. yes, that is right.... but we can move on, we can be positive, we can grow from what happens to us
This post has meant a lot to me, today, Sandra... and has supported the return of the confidence that I began to feel yesterday.
Thank you for sharing... Happy, happy running to both of you xx
In each post you are sounding stronger Sandra and at least you are on your trails and outside which is such a plus. How lovely to run with your husband too ๐
Thanks your majesty! It was a lovely run and I know I can continue to build on this. Yep, good running with my husband, although I suspect a little competitiveness MAY kick in when I am better! ๐ We are quite well matched when both on form!๐
Glad to hear things are improving - well done for being sensible (it must be such a temptation to run further or faster). Nice to run with your hubby too. Mine has recently started C25k but has been troubled with tight Achilles so resting up a bit. I don't think we could run together regularly because he is 6ft with a long stride and his jog is faster than my usual pace!! All the best for your continued improvement.
Really making progress Sandra! Well done, and for showing restraint too and not overdoing it! Summer hols off for you now?? Good on hubby for being supportive ๐
Yep, the long school holidays...I am so lucky! After the ups and downs of the last few months I am taking things steady but yes, I am making progress on these short runs. Hoping to try a 5k in the next week to 10 days and then it's onwards and upwards!๐ Hope you're ok? x
